So cute!

I enjoyed this so much! It took me like a good five or six episodes to realize the male lead was Fu Pei from Put Your Head on My Shoulder. I had recognized the female lead right away, but not the male lead. I loved PYHOMS and that’s probably my favorite C drama, so I was pretty shocked to realize that this couple really, really worked, considering how much I hated Fu Pei in PYHOMS. Clearly they’re great actors. The story is so cute and warm and the ending was cute and warm too. I don’t really know what to do with my life now that it’s over. There’s reasonable conflict but nothing overly dramatic. And I really enjoyed the second couple as well. Their story was interesting and I was invested. Overall there weren’t really any characters I hated or disliked.

Sweet and simple

If you’re looking for a feel good easy watch, this is it! I loved it. The leads go well together and there’s not really any misunderstandings. The characters are pretty likeable. There wasn’t any point where I wanted to die of second hand embarrassment or where I wanted to get rid of a character. Overall the story was straightforward, but very sweet. It moved at a good pace. The side characters were interesting enough and I was a bit invested in their stories as well but they didn’t outshine the leads. And the leads were together for quite a good amount of time. I hope they continue the story!

Overall really enjoyed!

Solid story for me! I enjoyed it a lot.

A couple of things:
1) I was NOT impressed that the first time he kissed her was after he got her forcibly drunk.
2) He insisted that she was coming to his office because she liked him, but we saw she only went because he forced her too. She was oblivious to his feelings for her so she had never had time to consider her own towards him.
3) We see so many proposals but not the marriage. That was so disappointing. Because their engagement was so rocky, I kind of felt like the ending was incomplete. What if something else came in the way again?

Otherwise, I really enjoyed the story. I liked that she grew as a person and became a better person because of her relationship with Feng Teng. She clearly became way more confident in herself by the end of the story.

What I really, really enjoyed about this story is the characters got together SO early on. We truly got to see them fall in love and then navigate a relationship. We saw them at their happiest moments and we saw them at their most challenging moments. So many dramas don’t let the characters get together until the end of the story, but in this case they were together for 2/3 of it. And it didn’t feel like drama was thrown in for the sake of drama. The problems they faced seemed to be reasonable problems that a couple in their situation would face.

Not my cup of tea

I had a hard time watching this. I got bored during a lot of it and I found a lot of the characters and their choices to be frustrating. I wonder if maybe I missed out on some of the cultural understanding, but I couldn’t believe how much they wanted to talk about “marriage is this” and “marriage is that”. I guess, as a married person, I just don’t buy into the relationships they were trying to sell me. I was quite frustrated at the choices made by the characters. The desires of some of the characters made me feel like they were selfish and that was never addressed. Considering the show was about marriage, I felt like I didn’t see enough of the developing relationship between the characters. For the one who had a difference in opinion about how long they should wait to get married, the show gave us no indication as to how that difference of opinion was solved beyond a couple of words about a plan. For the main relationship, there was a huge lack of communication and we didn’t really get to see the characters together. It’s hard to call it love when you only see it for such a small period of time. I also felt like some of the characters were just thrown in without much thought as to why they were there. The stalker storyline… the incident with the assistant director… those were just barely there to the point of “why bother?”

If you like France, it’s worth a look.

So this show is 50 episodes. Be prepared. I enjoyed the first half, but once they left France, the story really really dragged.

First off, I never could understand why the father decided to steal his son’s work. It really wasn’t ever clearly explained. And he was willing to even commit murder to make it happen. The murder was left unresolved and basically never investigated in France. And once the murderer died, well that part of the plot just never came back.

The timeline was also very confusing. So I guess they were in France for a year and then Zhou was lost for a while and then they were in China, but then at the end Zhou mentions it’s been 3.5 years since he met Nanen. That both seemed too long and too short. I’m not sure the writers knew what they wanted.

The second leads drove me crazy. Zu Ma was annoying, but was actually pretty decent once she got on with Nanen’s brother. But of course she had to end up with her first beau... and they just did not work together as a couple. They were much better off as individuals. Vivienne was a whole other case of awful.

I liked the actors. I loved the idea of them all working to a clear goal together for the betterment of the environment. I really enjoyed that the first half was set in France (and it appeared to have actually been filmed there.) But the story itself and the characters were a bit all over the place and I found myself not liking all of them for things like lacking basic communication skills. And the story at times just didn’t make sense to me. I couldn’t ever figure out why a lot of the things happened. And as cute as the leads are, they don’t actually spend very much time together.

A Perfect Drama

Wow. Just wow. This is a perfect show. You have action, romance, fluffy cuteness, comedy, strong characters, friendship, unrequited love, a serial killer, and gangsters. I had no idea what to expect when I watched this, but I regret not watching it sooner! It was a pure joy to watch 99% of the time. I laughed. I cried. I smiled like a dork. The entire show was just perfect. And I really loved how it really I played Bong Soon’s strength as a person and her warm personality. I would totally want to be friends with her.
