A story about young people hoping to pioneer architectural improvements that will benefit the generations to come. A stone-faced genius meets his opposite, and they clash from the start. Hate turns to love between these two people who first meet at the animal research society. Li Na Nen is a young woman from a small town who has always been passionate about Chinese culture and traditional architecture. After graduating, she heads to Bordeaux University to pursue her studies in the field. She somehow ends up joining the animal research society, where she meets Zhou Er Wen. He is a young man who advocates ecological preservation. Given his interest in modern architecture, he is devoted to finding synergies in both. Li Na Nen and Zhou Er Wen start out at odds with each other, and Gao Mu finds himself to be the constant mediator. Their experiences bring them together as they strive to bring to fruition a project referred to as the hanging garden. (Source: ChineseDrama.info) Edit Translation

I am repeatedly asking myself what planet the script writers are from. While the series isn’t awful. The senselessness and immaturity of the female lead is crazy. Her friend is even worse. There’s nothing more annoying than watching an adult pout and cry like a kid over something small, like seriously, your favorite cookie is gone but it’s too petty to cry over. Her friend also seemed so wishy washy it became as irritating as a rash to watch her. The relationship between the leads was so so but their behavior was even more so so. My goodness, it was so frustrating to watch at times but because I was to far into it I didn’t want to just drop it. The rationale of the cast was supremely unnatural. An example: I dated you for years, you deceived me and cheated me but I’ll still date you even though I know. The situations were realistic as in, it could happen but the reactions were just inhuman. No one and I mean no one would just let things go just like these people did. One minute someone is angry and not talking, the next minute they’re smiling as if nothing happened. I’m looking like “how did this happen”.
Karma was absent for 90% of this series. Romance decided not to show up at all and social reasoning and common sense responses/reactions was often napping while filming.
Again I wouldn’t recommend this to a mature person, it would be appalling and ridiculous to them. If you can stomach clingy females, ridiculous reasoning, wishy washy people and whinny bits you’ll like it, however for me this was a big No no.

I'm pleasantly surprised by how quickly I watched this and how much I enjoyed it! I watched most of it without subtitles so I didn't fully understand all the scientific/business aspects of the storyline, but that doesn't matter to me since what I loved was the romance and the characters.

I loved every single scene between Chen Bo Lin and Zhang Tian Ai as the main characters Zhou Erwen and Li Nanen. Zhou Erwen is a serious, principled, and stubborn genius working determinedly on an ecological project with Gao Mu, Wu Suowei, and Yu Buji. He frequently makes decisions on his own, alienating his teammates. When Li Nanen goes to France to study architecture, she meets the four of them and it becomes her goal to join their project. Li Nanen is lively, upbeat, and relentlessly pursues her dreams. Although Li Nanen and Zhou Erwen's personalities initially clash, they learn from and inspire each other. Their relationship develops at a great pace with so many heartwarming moments. That's not to say there weren't obstacles between them—there are MANY, including some classic c-drama tropes (sigh)—but I had faith that they would be able to overcome everything. They thoroughly won me over and I would rewatch all their scenes.

Aside from the two leads, I liked every major side character except for one: Wan Wei. She's awful from start to finish, and I'm warning you so you don't get your hopes up about her. I liked the project team members; their relationships with each other were nuanced and sometimes tense. There are also multiple side couples, exploring how love isn't always enough, how people can change (for better or worse), and how sometimes you only love the idea of someone.

Surprisingly, there was a lot of action in this drama, like scientific espionage and corporate scheming. It definitely helped build urgency and kept the drama moving at a fast pace. In the last five episodes, I thought (and hoped) things would wind down but it was dramatic all the way until the very end.

Also, just want to mention that since much of the drama takes place in France, there is a lot of French spoken. I have no idea if the French lines were written or spoken well, or if the translations were accurate.
