Why have they made poor beautiful ZLH look like a kabuki actor? Really,there've been too many cringe-worthy makeup faux pas in costume c-dramas this year.

My fave Joe Xu role was in Lost Love in Times where he was first the villain but then later a more layered, nuanced and rather forlorn second male lead. But he’s also been in things like The Dark Lord in which he plays the very shrewd and cunning male lead, not entirely good but definitely the one you want to win. It’s just lately that he seems to be exploring various bad guy roles. So far, it doesn’t look like he’s necessarily the big bad guy in this story.
