Just some 30 minutes and great for a short movie. His vibe, the blody tears moment great, betrayals especially the last one - chef’s kiss for dark, twisted minds😁
Oh WOW, goosebumps! I even can't decide from this who is more cruel, LWY or LS 😁
Suffering? Oh, most def. The more I think of his PS, the more I feel that GJMs ultimate message to us will be: 'You want love? Here you go, and now suffer and regret ever wanting it. Don't come again asking me for another love story.😁😁

Ikr, I see that there is even a 2024 version based on the same story. It was poorly reviewed and it's on dailymotion. Everyone seems obsessed with this story, lol.

What? 😱 I’ve been trying to figure out what Painted Skin: Resurrection is based on, there are so many versions of the story. The more I saw, the more interested I got. I think I'll watch them all😄 i also found out that are all based on an old Chinese short story called "Painted Skin" from 18th-century, horror like story, so cool.
I've found smth to wake erryone up - a good, teaser-like edit of Jilu, dark coded, I woke up immdetly when I saw it but still can't post anything on mdl😭😭😭
Novels are always tricky to adapt. There will always be changes, and only skillful screenwriters can pull it off. It's mostly up to them; I don't know who he got.
Don't know the novel, didn’t watch the filming, sorry. His short dramas are so underrated. Blossom was really good. He got through with that. But his short dramas? Butterflied Lover — that one hit different. Dark, emotional, aesthetically insane, without a high budget. Def GJM's vibe, so i expect lots of him. Even if he couldn't got much money for zhuyu or scriptwriters f- up, he will get the most out of what he's got. He did that with his short dramas.
I don't mind if he repeats some of his ideas — like, in FoF and YYM — the wing shots or the invisible wall. He switches up the actors, changes camera angles, and context, so it still feels fresh. It's just his style, and because it's really different from other series, I think we notice it more because it stands out, and his way of filming really sticks longer in our heads. Probably every director does this, but he's so cool that those visuals stay with us longer. Another director who gives off a similar vibe as GJM (aesthetically) is Zeng Qing Jie (Butterflied Lovers and Blossom), and I could tell he made both.
Edit: Go full screen, crank up the volume, it hits different.
