Hmm… about what you wrote abt the WoF discussions... I have to say I’ve watched 71 episodes of Renegade Immortal in total, and I love it. I’ll continue it as soon as I find the time. Same with DC... I watched 15 episodes but put it temp on hold only because of time...
But honestly, I don’t see any connection btw the romance stories in these two. First of all, I’m confused... what romance plot? 🤓RI has it, but it’s minor if i look at the length and number of episodes I’ve watched so far. I barely even felt it, and romance is definitely not something I associate with RI.. I think it’ll be the same with Beyond Time’s Gaze, which looks extremely promising. I loved the first episodes but the author of both just isn’t very strong when it comes to love stories ... they’re there, but they’re not central or particularly strong. Or maybe my brain just doesn’t register them as significant. I’m not really into romance stories in general. For other people, even one gaze or sentence can seem to turn a relationship into something more deep and strong, so maybe that’s why I didn’t really get all the romance discussions related to WoF. And I don’t even see Wang Lin and Tang Li Ci as similar characters... they’re just both mentally strong..besides when i searched abt the WoF novel i noticed it's perceived more as one bromance coded than romance.
The numbers for WoF are crazy....nice to read them, cause at the time I was watching... I kept seeing posts on xhs that made me question how the drama could have flopped. It didn’t seem believable to me. Some of the acc and comm even looked like those marketing acc. But I didn’t look too deeply into it.. I just chose not to believe it.. nd had a feeling it was some organized black campaign we often see..

I'm not sure if "Terror of the Underworld" is the right translation. Cause i was using more translators and was getting often ..with help of "Ghost Bane". Ghost bane in xianxia can be a talisman, or even sword or a technique that helps cultivators to repel or controll ghosts or spirits. In this synopsis they wrote a powerful being from the underground world, but it doesn't have to be a being. That was confusing part. Let me dm you.

I have to say I'm still not sure. The way i saw it on xhs... Jiuchuan dies... and with the help of a powerful being from the underworld...he comes back in a damaged body. He is missing one soul and two spirits. It's not clear whether if he returns in his own body, through revival of his corpse or if he borrows someone else's, cause I saw both versions.
Anyhow, as I'm often reading these novels about missing souls/spirits, the traditional belief... simply put... is that a human body has three souls and seven spirits. If a soul or spirit(s) is missing, it causes physical weakness...unstable cultivation...or memory loss or gaps...emotional imbalance etc. depending on what soul /spirit is lost. . They need to accumulate merit to prolong life...repair the body or find the missing soul fragments. This is what Douban wrote about, he collects merits, working on to repair his body, find lost fragments, investigate. Missing them..my guess, probably turned him now into this troublemaker/psycho version causing ruckus 😁so he's no longer kind, and doing what he must do.
And on the way, he forms a bond with this White Tiger spirit who failed his tribulation, and they'll be kinda helping each other..to investigate. Sooo it's hard to patch all this info into one synopsis..cause there are inconsistencies nd gaps..

Saw it too...to me these rumors abt BN and VoS have a leg to stand on..cause the director of BN said it'll air "soon", jjy also said "soon" abt VoS ...Oki abt PF i haven't heard anyone from the cast or crew backing it..RC for months now is rumored for May but also no backing..

I saw hunter2022@ complaining about the marketing...but i disagree. The trailer and official bts were really good they even got me to read the manhua 😅 ...hadn’t heard of it before... so for me it clearly worked lol..
And yeah, i saw you mentioned WoF ... It’s hard to grasp how big it was with all the “it flopped” or “why isn’t it bigger” comm.. which to me felt like part of an organized anti-campaign. So it’s really nice to see the figures in your comm.

From what I’ve seen on Chinese platforms... ppl have been saying the movie struggled with distribution from the start ... not many evening slots..and IMAX or prime screenings were hard to find. Some said they couldn’t get it in their local cinemas, and if they did, only during early hours, didn't wanna go to see it. In some smaller cities it was even withdrawn, which led ppl behind the movie to file some official complaint. Haven’t spent too much time on this, these were just comments I'm seeing while watching some bts and movie clips posted on their platforms. It just smth to be noted.
There were also talks about infighting btw companies, probably over distribution and scheduling. My guess is that...since it’s CNY...distributors may not have pushed it much because it’s not very family friendly compared to other films. Still... despite this, it’s gaining traction and shouldn’t be underestimated.
