Show had a lot of major flaws. Its best achievement is that it still made me wanting to watch next episode. Almost all the way till the end. For me ep 20 was the highlight of the show. Sadly the last eps felt a bit like a chore to complete.

The choppy editing, the half baked storylines, sometimes too much screentime away from MC (ep 10 for example) sometimes not showing the whole story (backstory FL mom, backstory Lu Ming for example), plot holes as bad as sinkholes, irritating side characters and the romance/relations seems off after years of dating.
But at the same time I’m still watching. I think mainly because of FL growth in work. And second half/end ep 20 was amazing. So I’m again watching tomorrow.

Ok I’m trying to follow your puzzle here. I’m with you on a lot of points. Here’s what’s stands out for me.
Ep 19, 2FL says: … when I was fourteen, I was already ready to have a sister. You’re just late. It’s implied that 2FL knew of FL existence. But she never knew it was FL. And mom never told her. Not even after she knew they met. On multiple occasions. If having a daughter wasn’t a secret why maintain a secret who she is when she already known?
FL is treated if she is the problem instead of being acknowledged. 2 FL to FL: You only call her ‘mom’ when people are around. True, but same goes for mom and nobody is confronting her. Or at least it isn’t shown to us. FL didn’t call her mom in the earlier occasions she met her with 2FL and others. Mom treated her as a stranger. I find it really understandable that FL on the verge of being introduced to her own mom snaps and calls her mom. Sure out of spite but she had it coming.
Mom is always at fault for not maintaining contact. Even when a child picks a side with a divorce it’s the duty of the parents to maintain contact. There is absolutely no sign of that. Other than mom crashing FL’s every birthday. That’s not parenting, helping or loving. That’s guilt.
The whole show is lacking background in storytelling. To many plotlines and to little time to tell the story. They should have skipped 2FL en 2 ML altogether just like they practically skip FL bar owner friends story. To me mom is irredeemable but if they want audience to forgive her they should have told her story better.

Ming Lu died 2 years before 5 year anniversary. So that means he died right after MC meeting again (B). That means that all events happening from ep 2 till ep 13 are weeks?
Lu Ming and FL friend met 27 times. That means they spent at least (probably more) a month after they met. They met in ep 7 and he died in ep 13. This also doesn’t add up timeline wise.
I think I have to accept that it doesn’t make sense and turn off my brain.

End on a positive note: the mayday situation in the plane, controlling and platform (skip the infuriating mom) had real good tension building. I was fully emerged at the edge of my seat. The reason I will be watching again tomorrow.

For now I also think it’s best to assume that it was wishful thinking of 2FL part. Losing interest in this couple.
