I love me a psycho who knows that he is a psycho, in other words I love me series Vegas. Vegas in the series is perfectly aware of how bad of a person he is and he does not feel resmorseful about it. He has a purpose and he does what needs to be done to achieve it, even tho his purpose is masked by his need to obtain acceptance he was raised in a violent environment surrounded by criminals so it makes sense that he is no angel. Even tho he is the biggest asshole, he does not deny it and he has a soft spot reserved only for his family ( and later Pete). When his plans are revealed Porsche faces hik and calls him an asshole in which Vegas replies '' did you just realize?''. Not only he does not deny it, but he takes some sort of pride in his action sof manipulating his victims. It makes sense he treated Pete the way he did in the beginning because to him Pete was a pawn sent by the enemy, but still it was Vegas the first one to show a hint of kindness by treating his woods. He was the first one to let his gurad down and let Pete see his vulnerable side. It was most likey the first time that Vegas allowed an ''outsider'' to see him being vulnerable. After that he realized that he is capable of also falling in love and not only loving his family, which is why he tried to put Pete's need above his and even pushed him away for a better future. On the other hand, novel Vegas might not be that aware of how much of a jerk he is, or he is that much of a jerke that he does not really care about it. For instance, in the novel he excuses his action because of his father's treatment and he also blames Pete in the beginning every time he punishes him by saying that it is Pete who goes against him. Once he develops feelings he does not try to right his wrongs towards Pete, but acts as if he never did anything wrong. It feels as if Pete's trauma does not matter becuase now they are in love. He had to be adandonned to face the consequences of his actions but even after that he started acting selfishly by trying to sabotage Pete's relationships. Long story short, Series Vegas is a ruthleless asshole but beneath him there is a great sense of devotion and sensitivity only reserved for certain people. He is a multilayered character and mostly a product of his enviroment, while novel Vegas is more selfish. It really amazes me how the series wrote Vegas in a way that he is both ruthless and human at the same time which makes it impossible for me to hate him while novel Vegas got me conficted and it only took a chapter to make me even more mad at him.
I only know series Vegas
