It has to be intentional that they chose Vegas to have a hedgehog as pet. He did not have any in the novel and out of all pets, a cat, dog hamster or whatever they gave him a hedgehog, It is because a hedgehog it is a perfect symbol of both Pete and Vegas.

I was thinking yersterday why Vegas has a pet and why of all possible pets he could have he has a hedgehog.
The hedgehog is a symbol of Vegas , Pete and their relationship and here is why ( or at least what I think).

Hedgehogs when they are scared, angry or feel in danger they raise their spikes and they point at every direction to protect themselves from predators. However, when a hedgehog feels calm or safe it can relax its spikes, they lay down flat along the back and sides which means there is no chance of getting poked at this state.

The hedgehog is a symbol of Vegas. Vegas has a lot of anger in him. The main cause is his family environment and his father's way of behaving towards him. He didn't grow up with affection, understanding and acceptance. The only thing he learned growing up was pain and that he had to overcome Kin to prove his worth. This resulted in Vegas developing into a cold person willing to use any means to achieve his goals. But the main reason he acts this ways and tries to mess up the main family is because he seeks his father approval. His inner child is not satisfied and he tries with any means possible to feed this child with the affection he did not recieve. Pete will spend a lot of time with Vegas since he is his hostage and he will end up seeing Vegas in his every state. He will see him in his worst and most vulnerable state. He will see every side of him and tear down his wall, and just like hedgehogs relax their spikes when they are clam, Vegas will allow Pete to see his soft side.

While Pete is in captivity he might find comfort in that pet. The hedgehog is in the secret room kept in the cage while Pete will be in the same room while chained. He might think of it as a company and how they are kinda similar as both are kept there and are very restrained. He might start taking a liking to it as he will take a liking for Vegas once he will see the side of him no one else has seen so far.

I am not worried about the actors transmiting the emotions, I trust that they will do a good job.

I also have faith in Bible and Build but there is a limit to what they can do. The important task is left to the scriptwriter and I hope they worked properly on the script to make the VegasPete justice.

No, I am with you. He is worse in the drama. I said it before, that he is more fucked up in the series and I love it. It is gonna seem hard to make it beliavable that this man is even capable of loving someone other than himself. But that's the interesting part, I wonder how they will handle things.

I do agree about Pete forgiving him easily too. I wanted him to work on his trauma more. I hope they will handle it better in the series.

He undergoes a character development in the novel, their story is really complicated in the novel and I think they aim to make it as complicated in the series too. And I hope they do.

Well even in the novel at the firsr chapters he did not have any redemptive qualities.Pete brings out his nice side, his character development happens because he falls in love.

I think the reason they removed the rape was to make it more acceptable to end up together.

I am afraid VegasPete might end up having the same fate as TinCan from Love by chance, if you are familiar with the series. In case you are not, the side couple there was left on a cliffhanger cause there were problems with the second season. They evetually made a second season but the story was re-written so it does not truly count as a continiation to me cause the cliffhanger from season 1 still remains..

I am kinda afraid too. Like what if they don't make him be as in love as he is in the novel?
What if they make him completely heartless and their relationships is mostly about BDSM?
I hope I am just overthinking. I love psycho Vegas but I want him to be whipped for Pete.

Since people keep reminding me of the fact that VegasPete story is different in the series from the novel I can not stop thinking about the fact that Pete will leave Vegas in the end of season one and their story will end on a cliffhanger.
