The drama is drastically different from both the novel and the donghua. If you haven't seen either, you will have a better time but even then the pacing is not ideal.

The actors are all ok, Xiao Zhan is an excellent Tang San. Music can be off sometimes. I don't like this show so far but I still think you should give it a try because many people are enjoying it.

But if the show drops this support prioritising and allows the main lead and the main plot to explode, the whole show will be a big hit. Douluo IP is a huge hit because of Tang San. If the drama allows Tang San to shine, drama will be a hit. It is not complicated. 33% of the show is over. If that is not enough to start on the main lead plot line then I don't know.

600 million for 33% of the show, a huge preexisting IP and a huge main star is nothing to brag about.

Look, I may not like how some of his stans act but I try to be as objective as I can be. I like Xiao Zhan himself, I think he is a great actor who has legions of fans. Just IMO but I think the few Tang San's highlights that exist come from his own excellent acting, not the script. I think it is his fans that are mostly holding Douluo at decent ratings now (the viewership is steady so no new fans). So they are obviously doing good work of support. I admire that.

But we all know Xiao Zhan's troubles with a certain agency. He has better shows coming up. He is in a good place now. If Douluo doesn't end up being a big male hero show, I see no reason for him to say yes to s2 where he would be sidelined again. Why would he? Tencent can just move on with Tang San's children. I am sorry, I can't answer your question better because I just don't know. Of course, if the show changes course it will be easier to predict.

This is a drama with a main lead. I want that main lead 5 episodes ago, not some random point in the future. Tang San is Tang San, he has clear motives and path. You can develop other original dramas if you want something else. If you want only positivity, I am sure there is some Xiao Zhan page somewhere. They are pushing this drama as the best thing ever so you can do it there.

Nah. If they want to make shows about realism then the solution is easy, simply write your own original dramas. Don't pick up Douluo Dalu, a very famous novel with a very famous main character, the centerpiece of the show. Tang San is an impotent wimp. Literally everyone bar one is better than him here. If you think that people want to watch stories about that, you are in for a surprise.

In fact, in these episodes, as time progressed, he has become wallpaper. This is a hero driven drama and yet the hero has no highlights.

Further development of supporting characters is fine. Further development at the expense of the protagonist is not fine. The worst offender is Xiao Wu but they all sucked blood from Tang San. The next two episodes are no different and you have passed over a quarter of the show.

Tang San's highlights have either been removed or given to others. Wait? For how long do you expect people to wait for the script to remember Douluo is Tang San's story. Oh and I highly suggest you check out the spoilers.

No, it didn't. The highest count of any episode was just slightly above 100 million and it is going down now. 100 is decent. A billion is nothing, it needs way more than that.
