They can insert a strong random character, there is no time for another big name addition considering the timing. They changed everything so I don't think they care about changing even more.

She is very important for slaughter city but keep in mind that chances of it being filmed are almost zero because of Chinese censors, even if there is season 2. If it is filmed they will probably change everything. So maybe in this drama she actually isn't all that important.

Yeah, he is the disaster that wrote this script. When you get professional fans defending the writer it is easy to understand why. Considering the complaints are rising, they must work really hard!

His writing isn't as good as it was and let's be honest, he was always lacking in certain aspects. It is just that the awesome parts covered that up and now it is more noticeable.

The only surprise was horror because people who haven't read the books had nothing to be surprised about. If he had warned original fans in advance, the backlash would have been less. Hard-core fans would not have watched, milder would be prepared and would have given it a shot. As it is... I mean smart people knew it wasn't going to go over well. Look at how Xiao Zhan covered himself (not that he has to, IMO because it is hardly his fault and he is doing a great job but he still did).

They gambled. They tried to weigh between telling the truth and scaring the fans off and lying and getting at least some to check it out. They gambled badly because being warned in advance would have prevented the shock that just kept growing. As it is, they are getting destroyed in the novel and donghua circles. Their own fault.

If he actually was respectful of the fans he had before, he would have said that the changes were drastic before the drama went on air. He didn't but they are spinning now to cover their behinds. Ignore her. Wang Juan is an "idol" screenwriter. He literally has water armies flooding Douban trying to explain how he is the best thing ever and no, Tang San is not nerfed, you are all just morons who are too stupid to understand his brilliance. It's pointless, they are all here to defend him because he has big projects coming and they know the drama sucks. If they don't defend him, his future value goes down and they can't afford that.

Which is basically a flop if we are being harsh and just being decent if we are kind. For the amount of promotion, the huge existing IP, Xiao Zhan, that is a flop if it stays at 4 billion. It might not because if action picks up people can ignore the first 15 episodes if word of mouth spreads.

I am not sure what isn't a face-palm at this point tbh. One of the main characteristics of this rewrite is that the incompetent screenwriter took highlights of certain people and then either deleted them or redistributed. It's unbelievable.

About yy, I meant I've and Fire Ying yang well. In the drama, Xiao Wu is with him. Cnetz are very unhappy about the whole thing because there is also a possibility that actually it belongs to her. The whole Dugu Bo plot is under a question mark. About Rongrong, if she already has the nine treasure glazed tile pagoda then that entire plot from 7 to 9 will get scrapped. Beautiful Silk Tulip getting scrapped goes along with the Ying Yang well plot being altered too. I don't mind a thread for book lovers, sounds good.

At this point, I am horror watching. I think I am numb and there is just this horrifying feeling as they keep destroying all the essential and best parts.
I think in the end I was most appalled at what they are doing to the Haotian hammer because even in the drama they explained about adding rings. He uses it before and yet this time he one shots the spider. It doesn't give me the impression of the hammer's might; it makes me think the spider has the strength of a household cockroach. Everything about Tang San is awful. I know they didn't have much money initially but it doesn't hold water that this is why Tang San is so reduced when you look at the rest. I don't know if you have seen spoilers for yy? I was so angry that I am not even sure but that was a nine glazed pagoda, right? There goes that plot.

You definitely should. I am a book fan who doesn't like it but it's just me. You might like it. Maybe if they said in advance that they are changing a lot, I would have liked it more being prepared. I still think I could like it if certain things change (I am trying not to spoil, sorry). So since you are going in knowing there is a big difference, I think the impact will be less. I do hope that you will have fun.
