Over 350 million yuan in B.O. now. Considering the low investment, Daylight is turning profit now and of course the great reviews and reputation of the movie is making them happy as can be seen by their behavior.
I would say that most people watched for the combination of great acting, great plot and great directing. It really was the most talked about drama this year in China because the audience was so engaged with what was happening.
He certainly did an incredible job, if he had failed to portray Zanghai properly then the rest would have collapsed, he had that much screentime but he was great in the role so he was the center jewel for a truly great drama.
The movie has broken 200 million yuan in box office (currently 211). It's getting great reviews so today has actually been rising and Maoyan revised its predictions up.
The final presale number was 150 million. It's an amazing result for such a tight release schedule.
Pre-screening was today and all reports coming in are positive. It's a difficult time slot, Zootopia 2 and Avatar sandwiching it but hopefully the critical reception is good and word of mouth spreads. Movie releases tomorrow.

Yes. Not much. Excellent. It evolves as the story goes which I personally liked.
If you have seen Nirvana in Fire do not expect that type of perfect character, with perfect manipulations and plans. Zanghai is much more human who comes in educated but inexperienced and then evolves.
