J the serial killer is the former fiance of kang bit na (I am pretty confident about this.) and his brother probably knows it that's why maybe he killed the adoptive mother. something along these lines.

Edit: the detectives said to look into kang bit na from scratch, I think that's how they will get to investigate her ex fiance who is potentially the serial killer and the og kang bit na might have known that but still protected him for love but he killed her becoz he got anxious maybe something like this.
