To be fair, this and Crash Coure In Romance most likely shot the drama at the same time and it is rather coincidence. And I don't really see nothing wrong about it, if the actor fits the role and can act.

For the 8 years, in Korea (as they use Korean age), she should start school, so it makes sense to me. As for the single mothers, maybe they went to some center for single and struggling pregnant women etc. and Do Gi maybe let him beat up, because of the children - he hesitated to keep them safe.
