I don't mean to sound toxic or anything, but I cannot believe that prolific actors are still willing to accept Kang Eun Kyung's scripts. Especially after Forecasting ..
Let's hope she is going to write a good drama, but I'm HUGELY skeptical.
Unpopular opinion: Korea doesn't know how to make dorama without putting in romance when it doesn't even need…
I completely disagree. Romance is the reason why Hallyu is on the map & it's the only thing they can do consistently well.(well okay romance & comedy, two things) The pure thrillers & procedural dramas I've seen were at best mediocre, far inferior to American shows.
The webtoon's first season ends with a honking cliffhanger and the drama writer did a very low effort attempt to do something similar, but more acceptable for a drama that won't have a second season (yeah).
I'm thinking that there could be a real chance that the webtoon artist would follow Yumi's Cells example in the FL having multiple partners over a long period of time.
There are two important things that they've taken from the "original", namely the red umbrella & the iconic hand holding scene. The first one doesn't really work, because with the completely different cinematography the original artistic intent is completely lost. The hand holding scene felt a bit whelming, perhaps it should've been re-shot, but that's not all, they completely changed the aftermath of it, I was mildly disappointed about that if I want to be completely honest.
EVERYTHING ELSE is different, the vibe, the relationship, the hardships & the (long) happy ending, even the supporting characters are completely different. It barely makes sense to even consider these two dramas related. They bought the licence, but ended up not doing much of anything with it.
SiTR had been ruined for me by the super makjang-ish second half, here we only have a few scenes like that at the half way point, overall it's a pretty tame drama, with a very limited amount of angst.
I somewhat agree, though it's difficult to compare them & the setting + plot are just too different. (plus it's not over yet, ruination is still possible)
Does this drama have a love triangle or an evil scheming second female lead who tries to ruin the leads relationship???
As of 24, there is a semi annoying ex that doesn't amount to much & a new love interest has been introduced for ML, but she is unlikely to become a serious contender, she is probably meant to contribute to some corporate drama I'm guessing.
Let's hope she is going to write a good drama, but I'm HUGELY skeptical.

TLDR.: Triangle haters can watch this.
