I think I see what they were trying to do, but it didnt come off as reasonable as I imagine they thought it would in the drafting. To me, it feels like a caution about the whole ABO universe, which I think maps onto the Alpha/Beta relationship that the dad wants to jack up to pair his darling with a pure omega. Theres a love is love message if you squint a little. And also a message about partnership versus possession. Honestly, there are a lot of moments that read like messaging to me. They are well intentioned but also distracting and not sticking the landing imho.

I think you misunderstood me and/or I don't understand your response. (That was the general "you" not the specific "you" in my last comment, btw.) I just mean to say that I like Thai BL, but I also like JBL and many others. So I dont even understand why folks would line up against BL from one place vs. another, if that's what's going on here. My favorite is My Personal Weatherman, but I also love Khemjira, Ticket to Heaven, HIStory 3: Trapped, Ossan's Love, and Addicted. So if some weird BL fandom war has broken out along country lines, I'll be staying out of that.

Yes lord! So much whitewashing across the board! I find it interesting that even with the warped BL beauty standards, some of the stand out (Thai) hotties are tan, like Bible Wichapas, Apo Nattawin, and Net Siraphop. He Yanzhao (Sammy's Children's Day) and Liu Jingyu (A Winter Sun) are peak sexy in their caramel coated forms too. (Yes, I do have a list of my golden brown faves!) I hope the industry is realizing that the fandoms don't exclusively want white skin.
