Detawen never actually say what influences their rating, but it definitely does not include viewcounts, looks like fandom hype actually, considering Imperial Coroner got a pretty high number iirc (IC is a low budget drama that outperformed its expectations and had good buzz amongst certain circle of cnetizens but it shouldn't have a high number)

Hopefully it makes up for the completely dead first half of the year for tv dramas, the tv ratings were all around abysmal lol. It finally looks like a summer hits are coming! I've been waiting for this for months!

Sun Honglei's new thriller (?) is doing pretty well too. Daylight ent's new drama have four promising young actors and I'm sure daylight will go pretty hard on the promotion, both of them are tencent dramas, and they will have daily updates so yeah.

I'd note that just before Olympics started, there were floods, then right when YAMG started, the slow moving typhoon that caused the floods hit, then there was a COVID flare up that was caught too late that's still on-going. Olympics and Kris Wu definitely got most of the attentions though. There's a whole bunch of strong tv dramas starting this week too.

I'd expect it to slow down unless the kiss scenes grabbed new audience. The day after first fast track is usually the high point of a series' daily viewcount. Let's see how it goes today and tomorrow. YAMG drops bit too fast on non update days too.

Again, you are underestimating Sword and Brocade's two leads, Wallace Chung have couple extremely popular dramas under his belt, one of them a Gu Man adaptation. Both the leads have market amongst the Chinese aunties. S&B's novel is actually more well known than Minglan's, it's a shame that they didn't seem to adapt it super well, ah well, the drama outperformed its expectations.

When you look at how popular a drama is from cnetizen side, it's very often just weibo/douban which is young and female dominated, there are lot more people than that. Case in point, this week, we are going to see flurry of new tv dramas that's broadcasting, Cheng Yi's new drama is the least competitive of them all. A thriller that just started with a stellar cast, a Sun Li drama (tv rating queen), a daylight entertainment (production company, dramas all tend to be decent quality) family drama, and another family drama that looks like tv audience will love.

You can divide the viewcounts by ep number, that makes it bit fairer for shorter dramas. I want to restate that MHH is literally the top airing drama for iQiyi this year, by a very large margin. Expecting YAMG to match up is really high expectations.

I actually like that arc, but i think it got more boring in second half, but if you look at viewcounts, most people didn't drop it. Well done comedy is actually pretty hard to come by, and it has the widest audience reach. It's actually getting more views during summer than before. It is definitely the most watched drama for iQiyi, period, by a very large margin.

My Heroic Husband is not a high profile project but you severely underestimated tencent's ambition with it. (tencent pictures produced it and sold it to iQiyi) The ip is not a big ip but it's still medium level, the ML is actually very very well known as a comedian, probably the most well known for his age, even looking at actors. FL have a fairly popular character from Disguiser (pretty popular drama). Both ML and FL were likeable supporting characters for Joy of Life which was very popular. Joy of Life here function like a smaller version of Honor of Kings and bought them audience.

I really wouldn't use MHH, it's probably the most profitable drama this year.

one click means +1 view, even if you watch trailers, it'll count, lot of people might rewatch the episode, then there's those that might have clicked on it from front page or from games.

...no, it's just used neutrally to differentiate between the older actresses and younger ones. 85 flowers used to be small flowers too, but then they got older and there's newer generations so it end up being dependent on age.

Hua Dan is a chinese opera term, they tend to be naive and happy go lucky characters, different from Qing Yi who tend to be serious and mature. In drama world, the characters they play are similar to this too, and more broadly speaking hua/flowers tend to be more popular.

Gu Man didn't write about aerospace stuff because she's not an expert in it and the book is from Jing Jing's point of view so she's not privy to the details. That's different from a drama. I really do think Gu Man wanted more and proper details of aerospace stuff to make her characterisation more believable, not an exchange for consultancy, they could have totally skipped that like the novel.

that basically mean like every drama this year is a flop i think? i know everyone have high expectation for the drama, and i'm sure people will only admit it's popular if it's 5B, but below that is hardly a flop, seriously.

anyways, it's 1.5b at the moment.
