That is a good question. How I understood it is that her aunt wanted her to spend a year in Qingque sect to improve her martial arts so she could protect herself. She was kinda lazy in her sect. Haha…

Epi 4 only and it's getting confusing. I need family tree, anyone has the family tree?
From Baek… 9 hrs ago:

2 main sects in this drama (in most wuxia too) are the Demon/demonic sect (heretic, dark cultivation, not real demons as in Xianxia) VS the Righteous sects.

▶️ The Li (Demon) Sect was originally led by the Mu Clan, with Mu Qingyan as its young master and Mu Zhengming (played by Li Yunrui) as his father . The Nie Clan is ruling currently after 'wiping out' the Mu, led by Nie Zhe, with Mumu's treacheous mother at his side.

The Righteous Sects are:
▶️ Qingque sect, led by Qi Yunke, the sect Zhaozhao is learning now.
▶️ Louying Valley, the Cai, led by Cai Pingchun (Zhaozhao's dad).
▶️ Taichu Temple, with Wu Yuanying as its former chief, tortured by the demonic sect, until he was saved by his lover, Mrs Luo.
▶️ Siqi sect, led by Yang Heying, Xiaolan's dad, Zhaozhao's friend
▶️ Peiqiong Manor, with Zhou Zhizen as the chief. His son Zhou Yuqi is Zhaozhao's fiancé
▶️ Guangtian Sect, led by Mr Song, Song Yuzhi's father.

There are also
▶️ Snowy Mountain, with Qian Xueshen as its sole survivor. He is taking care of the little dragon.
▶️ Xuankong Nunnery, with Abbes Jing Yuan (Zhaozhao's great aunt) as its leader.

Title Generation to Generation Spoiler
I've just finished ep 10 and I'm about to drop this series because I cannot make head or tails of the storyline.…
A lot of the “battle” is actually not being shown but inferred via conversations.

- so MQY and building his forces and fighting NZ to gain control over the Li (demon) sect. NZ had usurped the power from MQY’s dad who was a minor when his dad passed away. NZ was adopted by MQY’s grandfather and very capable so ppl followed him.
- Zhao Zhao heard from the handicapped elder that MQY is terminally ill b/c of the mysterious poison inside his body. She’s concerned about him so decides to go and find him w/ her elder’s medicine. Yu Zhi (3rd disciple ) insists on accompanying her in case she faces dangers.
- the sect leader goes out to find them upon discovering where they were going. He encounters Yu Zhi’s who basically is pretty chill about it and calms him down a bit and convinces him to hot rush in. EP 13
- w/in Li sect are divisions. We have the two “lietenants” but they are not all on the same page. One is taking villagers and turning them into zombie slaves ep 12/13.
-meanwhile MQZ is looking out for Zhao Zhao because he knows she’d be out looking for him but he’s always a step behind.

Yuzhi's dad being the biggest shipper of Yuzhi and Zhao Zhao is sooo cute - he's so chill, unlike the other parents…
He’s one of the rare parents who’s in tune of their child’s interests and supports them.

I think I have a huge crush on Qi Yun Ke. 🤭💖💖💖
I remember watching him in another drama and felt the same way there. It was a modern drama though. Lots of eye candy here.

This Q has been asked countless times here. According to all the responses here, they dubbed their own voices.

For those trying to decide whether to start or continue after the first few eps.

If you like those saga wuxia from 30+ years ago, this will feel familiar. Lots of unsolved mysteries. Lots of different sects. There’s a lot of baggage from the previous gen. Who’s good? Who’s bad? You cannot tell but it gives you bits of clues and hints through flashbacks, subtle interactions and conv. So we get to piece things together slowly. Even our main leads’ motives are not all so simple and clear. So if you’re into that, you’ll enjoy it.

I myself cannot wait for each released ep. Loving the acting, how the costumes & hair tries to by historically accurate, the incorporation of real nature into the setting, the attempt at quality cgi. It feels ambitious. Dramas like this tend to run many eps long. The fact that they condensed it to 37 eps means that some elements will like be cut. In this case, I think they chose to spend less time on developing the backgrounds of the various sects. I’m gonna guess this may explain the seemingly choppy editing at the beginning eps. We literally dived right into the plot. However, the backgrounds do eventually get revealed w/ the plot.
