Great season and i thoroughly enjoyed it. However they cut a few things from the novel and changed a few things aswell.
Here's a list of the top of my head what has been different in the last couple episodes.
1. The whole palace treasury and ming family business has been changed iirc.
2. After shadow injures fan xian, wu zhu goes to chen ping ping and asks for shadows location, Chen refuses, wu zhu says he's going to kill shadow, chen tells wu zhu he ordered shadow to leave the city because he knows wu zhu will kill him and also that it was a genuine accident.
3. After wu zhu is injured by the divine temple envoy, he doesnt go to see wan'er but he only goes to see chen pingping. He tells him to order shadow to return and watch fan xian, he's going away for awhile and he's been injured by the temple envoy.
4. Chen pingping was never involved in the plot with the emperor to bait wu zhu with the envoy. Chen had a suspicion that the emperor had a link with the temple but didnt get confirmation till after wu zhu was injured. The emperor didn't trust chen pingping with that information.
5. Haitang doesn't fight yun zhilan. She actually watches from the distance as shadow jumps out the water and stabs yun zhilan. Shadow spends the next few weeks chasing and fighting yun zhilan all over the city. There is a background war between shadows assassins squad of thr overwatch Council and yun zhilans disciples going on whilst fan xian is dealing with the ming family
6. Deputy Commander jing from the black cavalry doesnt form a relationship with fan xian till much later in the series and he's also isnt a fanboy of fan xians poetry like that. They made him comedic and his mask is cringe.
7. Fan xian doesn't have many bodyguards in the show and it makes sense due to budget concerns but in the novel he always hae Guo duo of the tiger guards and overwatch council assasins with him when travelling anywhere
Started off so well and was good till the vote was for min soo. Then it just went downhill.
Final episode however killed it for me. Killing off jin hoo was so bad and yhe way that kt was done drives me nuts.
Ji hoo died because hyun is useless. She's a cop with a gun and couldn't stop a teen from smashing his head in.
To make it worse, she left her traumatized sister to go and blame kwon for his death when it's all her fault he died. And to make it even more terrible, she doesnt even go to comfort her sister who's love interest died right in front of her, and dumps it on her friend to look after her, because she decides work is more important.
And kim mu chan is soo annoying, are you corrupt or not? Fabricating evidence, abusing your authority as an officer, beating people up but letting someone who brutally murdered a child die is where you draw the line because you'd rather see them go free then die.
And the fact that min jin young was free and well at the end just sucks. "the message og the story is that evil wins of justice" bla bla bla. Shit writing and ending.
Final episode was a drag to get through after ji hoo died.
Wan'er is fan xians wife throughout the seires. She struggles to have a child for a while because the medicine for her illness prevents it,so fan xians gets his maid pregnant first by accident . She never complains about it and treats the maid as a sister
She later has a child with fan xian. They end up creating a charity which she runs and thats about it.
It's been sometime since i watched the series so i cant remember if she's been introduced. Her name was Sisi. She should hace been one of the girls in danzhou.
They want the templr for its tech but the emperor and Chen pingping want it for different reasons. Everything chen pingping does is on the surface for the emperor and the good of the kingdom but in reality, its all so fan xian can get stronger.
The emperors motive for killing fan xians mom wasnt for advance tech in the temple. He did it because she was too powerful, and didnt fear him or the throne. The emperors mom and wife hated her aswell.
So in the novel he doesnt end up with haitang, they become best friends. Fan xian sleeps sleeps with the northern qi emperor who's actually a women disguised as a man. They sleep together twice, fan xian ends up getting the emperor pregant and they have a child but no one knows hes the father except haitang and si Lili. Fan xian also has a son with his maid that followed him from danzhou.

The ultimate villain of the series is the emperor. He killed fan xians mum and chen pingping knows this and wants revenge which hes been plotting for a long time. Chen pingping cares deeply for fan xian and they have a close relationship, the emperor ends up executing chen pingping after torturing him which makes fan xian the enemy of the emperor and they end up battling.
Ohh, also the emperor is the 4th grandmaster. He ends up killing sigu jian and ku he.
Fan xian never reaches grandmaster level but reaches the peak of the ninth level, with the help of haitang, shadow and 3rd guy that will be introduced they try kill the emperor. Fail the 1st time, then fan xian searches for uncle wu zhu and then they kill the emperor later on.
Inbetween the current series end and the end game plots theres a bunch of stuff that happebs with fan xian vs mother in law and the 2 princes.
Great drama. i loved it except for the ning que and sangsang only scenes which i skipped over. that relationship dragged the drama down. the supporting cast was amazing , battles and plotline were fantastic .
Just now heard about this! WAHHH! Was a huge fan of the anime and was soo sad they decided to stop after season…
i suggest you read the manga aswell. its amazing . yhh i caught up to the manga early 400s i think around there. waiting a week is long for a new chap but its too good to pass up

This is like an upgraded version of Nirvana in fire and for those who've watched NiF 1 or 2 know how hard that is to beat.
