I find that production companies often do that to capitalize on the popularity of the actors. For example unchained love with Dylan Wang came right after Love between Fairy and Devil. Also Romance of the little Forest with Esther Yu and Vin Zhang came right after LBFD. Then Song of the Moon with Vin Zhang came right after Romance of the little forest. Etc……

Maybe they can do a small clip of XL and XY meeting in the modern world…. I would so be content with that……

This ☝️!!! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. XY & jing’s relationship is incredibly superficial. She tries to be who she’s not when she’s with him. As a person she is intelligent, cunning, brave, ruthless , and fiercely loyal. She is exactly that to the other two leads but when she’s with Jing, that part of her is more hidden.

You are almost correct… if only Jing would have some grey characterization it would make most of us gladly jump on board of the Yaojing ship. Unfortunately he doesn’t. At least to me.

Trust me, I get it. My bae is and always will be XL. I guess what I’m trying to explain to your point is……In a world of war, assassinations, and manipulations , jing seems out of place with his kind and peaceful nature. Perhaps that’s the whole point. I myself can not root for him. You can be kind and gentle without being weak.

Absolutely. He can’t protect her like the other two leads. That’s why most of us Yaoliu shippers can’t jump on yaojing bandwagon. It’s freaking infuriating because despite being intelligent he can’t seem to handle his own family. SMH

But that is exactly why XY chose Jing. Because she grew up in bloodshed and she doesn’t want that for the rest of her life. Despite the obvious fact that her soul calls for another. She’s mentioned a couple of times how she wished that XL was Fangfeng bei.

There’s a joke somewhere that said “XL is so poor he had to sing his own theme song and Jing is so rich that he can afford to pay someone to dub his voice”. All the actors dubbed themselves except Jing. Lol

When I first watched this drama, I had no idea he used his own voice. I thought “man this this voice is freaking sexy”.

It’s heartwarming just not deep. Sharing cuddles and kisses is quite different than sharing deep conversations and understanding. There’s a level of true intimacy that XL and XY have that XY and Jing lack. And the intensity.

I mean he did grow up in a gladiator arena for demons which required him to fight for his life. Then got saved only to be groomed into a war general. And here comes our female lead who pretends to be a male walking into the enemy’s territory.. Did you want him to serve her tea instead of beating her? He has never known love in any form. The first time he felt parental love was when he pretended to be Fangfeng Bei. Throughout the entire season 1 you can see his growth as a person. Despite his earlier aggression he became more kind and considerate of the FL unlike Jing who had absolutely zero growth despite going through trauma himself. He doesn’t need to avenge himself at the very least stand up for himself. How the heck is he suppose to protect XY if he can’t even protect himself. Good thing XL had the foresight to teach XY so that SHE can protect herself and Jing. Also he clearly had a chance to take advantage of XY but chose not to. Again out of love and respect for her. That does not sound like an abuser. The kind of abusers that you are talking about are selfish manipulators.

That’s exactly why I’m here. Lol. Rewatching it right now.
