As someone who loves the novel and He Yan (both are my favorite QSCK's novel and character), I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE…
I agree! Since I read the novel after learning about the casting for the lead roles, I envisioned ZY and CL while I read the story and am so happy with how it turned out on screen! Still baffled by the complaints about her stature and delicate features - they were described as such in the original anyway. If she had a more androgynous and disheveled look, there would still be complaints. You’re damned if you do, you’re damned if you don’t. But everyone is entitled to their opinions. I am personally happy with her. I love the way she switches from cheerful to dangerous in certain scenes. Her acting has improved and her action scenes are impressive - you can tell she worked hard on those.
Although I wish certain changes weren’t made like the whole Xiao Zhong Wu conflict (involving HY), I appreciate they at least gave us the main scenes (even if in a different order).
I can't believe they introduced that misunderstanding sh** that wasn't even in the novel 😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬Makes…
Yeah I am not fond of them having a conflict over his dad’s death, quite unnecessary. Probably one of the few changes I didn’t like. Even though there was a misunderstanding in the novel (where XJ thinks HY has feelings for CZ), it is better than this lol. I want to see her fight to get her sword back from HRF (like in the novel), but they changed it to XJ’s father being the one who gave her that sword.
Ooooou I heard that book was the author’s most popular! Anyone wanna share, see if it’s worth the read?
We were asking about the rebirth of the malicious empress of the military lineage (initial comment - same author as the one who wrote the book this drama was based on)
I wish Xiao Zhong Wu wasn’t the one who gave the QingLang sword to He Yan. The main reason is because I really liked the part in the novel where she asks to duel He Ru Fei (this happens not too long after after XJ finds out her identity and works with HY to help her seek her revenge against HRF). The price of losing the duel would be for HRF to give her the sword (which belonged to her when she was General Fei Hong in her first life). That was such a satisfying part - to beat HRF and retrieve her beloved sword
That will be too massive a budget to film😅. And thus far into this drama, they selected some iconic scenes…
Yeah much more romance focused, which I think they like to do with dramas in general to please the audience?
What I liked about the novel were the unspoken words and subtle gestures. The more subdued-slow-burn-love between the leads was beautiful, but probably too slow for drama watchers
Honestly, I don't mind them switching the arcs a little, having ML find out the truth about FL before any official…
The changes in the timing of the events are fine, and make sense as you say. I just wish this conflict didn’t involve his dad’s death. I was hoping they would keep the lead stories separate from each other besides the shared history of being classmates. Mainly because it feels like all of HY’s achievements and even her QingLang sword are tied to Xiao family (she shines on her own). It’s also kinda weird to have XJ blame He RuFei for his dad dying…I dunno. But thats just my personal preference
I actually like it this way better; the novel had it because of jealousy with CZ, I'm interested now to see how…
I think they meant that in the novel, XJ misunderstood that HY had feelings for CZ, which happened for a long time before he realized he was the moon she liked.
I do wish they didn’t create an issue between XJ and HY over his dad’s death. I also wish her sword had nothing to do with his family, because she is a general who shines on her own (not ties to Xiao family’s help).
Anyway I am trying to treat the stories separately. Not crazy about the changes but I still like the actors because they are perfect for their roles
Aw XJ’s “Come back alive” . So they decided to include this line in the middle of the story, interesting! It was something he said to HY towards the end of the novel before the final battle (when they set off separately to fight in different cities). I guess it’s because the final battle in the drama will have them fight side by side (based on the drama trailer).
Some misunderstanding is coming up. In the novel, they do not have any misunderstanding or cooling off period.I…
I liked the way it was executed in the novel. The way the confrontation was done when XJ found our HY’s true identity was so exciting. I wish they didn’t create the conflict between HY and XJ (over his father’s death), I guess they like to make these kind of situations in dramas
Although I like the drama overall and am enjoying it despite the changes from the novel, I think my biggest gripe (besides Lin Shuang He not being his own character) was the fact that they had to sow this discord between XJ and HY, and having her QingLang sword connected to Xiao family. I feel like they should’ve kept things independent from each other because it kind of makes all of HY achievements connected to the Xiao’s (if that makes sense). I think HY and XJ already have enough history together, so there wasn’t a need for her to be indirectly involved with his father’s death. Now we will have eps where XJ is moping about it all after her identity is revealed, which is time that could’ve been utilized elsewhere. Anyone feel the same?
ANYHOO. I know I know I should stop comparing. I still love the leads, ZY and CL have great chemistry!!! Visuals and visualing
The moon represents Xiao Jue, her light and hope. He was always there for her when she needed it (whether it was…
Definitely check out the novel, besides the major changes they made for the drama, they also tweaked other aspects. HY is more bright, bold and shameless here. XJ is more gentle and expressive in the drama vs the novel. The tone of the drama is definitely lighter, and they highlight the romantic plot more (with the love triangle), when it was more subdued and slow burn in the novel. I guess all for a more exciting watch for viewers.
