Both are capable individuals with their own flaws that kinda complement one another
Except, ML is probably too nice, allowing alot of misunderstanding to take place that worsen his RS with FL
This is mainly due to 1 Antagonist manipulating behind the scenes, and that is FL's ex boyfriend. He used Mi Bai's "love" for ML and Tian Mei's greed to his favour and let ML and FL break up due to misunderstandings, and partially due to ML's promise to FL's mother to not disclose her condition which let FL thought ML didn't tell her and choose to lie to her when eventually Mother couldn't help but collapse and FL was informed about her mother's illness
Tian Mei did seem to have something suspicious about her, and she eventually fell for her greed and be an annoying bitch, but end up realised she has been used and kinda redeemed herself and apologised to FL indirectly, while thanking her that she learned her mistake and what FL has taught her
Mi Bai's love is a negative one, and she kinda learnt the proper way she could have been as she was previously blinded with prejudice for FL in the first place. They eventually become friends while Mi Bai has learnt to let go and apologise
Ex-boyfriend manipulation got found out by the FL and she make it clear that she won't choose him even if ML wasn't in the picture. He was upset, and that is his last scene in Ep 29
I will recommend watching despite some negative comments due to not everyone is able to bear the obstacles the ML and FL have to go through unnecessarily

ML didn't leave, it was a facade to make FL reveal her true feelings of wanting him to stay. Everyone close to them know about it and planned a surprise at the end
So Ep 5 gives a better idea of everyone's interest thanks to Abao

Thinking about it, the ex boyfriend is indeed the overarching antagonist
ML found out that Mi Bai likes him
This for sure eliminates any kind of these 2 antagonists underhand stuffs because they are all aware of their agendas
