In the novel,Yes the female lead was in a unofficial intimate relationship with Su Rong Qing.
But it was after when she learnt that Pei Wenxuan has Qin Zhenzhen in his heart.Pei Wenxuan himself wasn't sure his feelings towards Qin Zhenzhen.Thus he got confused and didn't cleared anything which is the cause of their misunderstanding.
Then they decided that they will be allies only,they will not interfere with each other and they can have whomever they wants.
So they were husband wife only in name.but emotionally they had no relationship as a couple after that.
So Li Rong's being with Su Rong Qing can't be label totally cheating,she even advised Pei Wenxuan if he likes someone he should marry her, so this shows more they are not a couple now.
