Woah the comments blew up, not surprised. I'll push back a little here. Me saying he associated with her as a…
My first sentence in my last comment...

"Attraction is different then choosing to be in a relationship surely you know that. "

I am fully aware that attraction doesn't need to fall into societal norms, but engaging in a relationship with someone usually does. It's two different things, and I am also bisexual so I am fully aware of societal taboos in relation to attraction.

Lets not make me into something I am not here, just because you don't like my opinion. I am talking about forming a relationship between someone 31 and 19, who knew her as a minor that is well beyond just attraction. I have never said he was weird just for being attracted to her. He went WAY beyond that.

We had a good conversation don't get salty because we don't agree I don't think your opinion is an "ill opinion" it's just different from mine. I looked at this conversation with fondness as as successful interaction between two people on the internet who disagree. I did not not call you a pedo protector and you did not tell me to off myself in honor of your Oppa like everyone else on those thread lol. Your last comment was incredibly salty and condescending and made some unfair judgments on me that I did not appreciate. I have no problem with attraction outside of societal norms, I do have a problem with relationships like the one we have been discussing. My main opinion is just don't cross that line and you won't put yourself in these situations. As I have said time and time again he was not and is not a baby, he made all of these decisions himself. He crossed that line, and I really really hope he only crossed the line of dating a 19 year old and he didn't groom and abuse her.

Attraction is different then choosing to be in a relationship surely you know that. He will always be the pursuer because his brain was fully developed lol. They were operating on two different brain capacities...again because of the age difference. He will always hold more accountability to the start of their relationship because of that. 30 year olds should be more responsible and make better than decisions than 19 year olds. So, he could be like she's cute...but WAY too young, a responsible choice but he chose the latter.

I actually looked that up by Korean standards because I was actually looking for a cultural or even religious standard, because I am not naive enough to think my way of thinking is universal I may not agree with other standards but I do respect that cultural and religious standards exist. You are proving that by listing your countries cultural standard, but Korea's the country he is from aligns more with my views...I was actually surprised by that tbh lol. So, it really doesn't change anything in this case, but could explain why me and you don't see eye to eye on this.

But what's missing is what else would a 31 year old successful man want with a 19 year old woman? I cannot think of one psychologically sound reasoning why he thought to pursue her, and I can't let go of the fact that he knew as a minor it makes it even weirder, I'm sorry it does. Leonardo Dicaprio famously has that 25 year old meme attached to him, and I bet if you asked him did you know any of these girls when they were minors he would look at you like you were nuts lol 🤣. That's even too far for him lol. I'm sorry but the dancing around how weird AF this is is a lot. I have four older brothers none of them have dated anyone younger than 5 years from them, my husband is only 2 years older than me. Why would a successful 31 year old, admittedly massively attractive man, want to be with a 19 year old girl? How can I not be suspicious of that with or without evidence? Even in South Korea that has a deeply ingrained patriarchal structure that age gap is still not the norm...quick Google search (is a 10 year age gap normal in Korea) gives you that's it's more common in 30s and 40s but looked at with skepticism and as inappropriate for someone 20 and younger to date someone 10 years older. So, cultural is out as well, which actually surprised me lol.

I would hope you would at least understand why people are still suspicious and always will be because of this. I don't think you can get there though, which is fine. It was a good conversation though lol.

I actually would consider her a risk from a psychological standpoint. I think that is something we can agree on that her family did not seem to much concern about her at all, and she was financially responsible for them from my understanding. It wasn't until she died that they seem to need another means of support...cough...manufactured evidence...cough cough lol. She did not seem to have the best upbringing and not many people to really rely on. She would be an easy target imo. That's actually the main reason I have the psychological concerns about their relationship because I feel like she would be a big risk factor for an abusive relationship, especially with someone that much older, at only 19 with as many responsibilities that she had on her shoulders as well.

I wonder if their is a psychological analysis of this case? Not sure if you know. Mostly it seems to be internet discourse and people like you who look at it form a legal standpoint. I would be very intrigued how a psychologist would look at this case.

It's how she spoke about it that started the controversy. I haven't seen anything aside from online fringe that blames her for her grandfathers crimes. She spoke about the history so casually, and ignorantly. I do understand that she didn't know her grandfathers history entirely but she knew the history of the time. Well I hope she did. I am from the US and even I know the Korean/Japanese history...heck it's in several dramas lol.

That being said she did apologize for that and owned up to all of it. I think her apology was genuine, it was very good. I do not think she is a traitor/sympathizer, or supports any part of that history. And I genuinely believe she is reflecting on how she spoke and her own family history. So, I think they are going over the top with it. I get the anger but after her apology it just seems a bit much now. I'm petty enough that if this was me, and my career was completely tanking after offering a genuine apology, I would be finding a Japanese agent and staring in J-dramas out of spite....fine you think I'm a traitor, watch this lol 🤣.

Oh I was far too young to have a baby, and I was 21 at the time. I'll never advocate that I was ready to make that decision, but I did it and in relation to this case I did it with someone who is only 2 years older than me. There was no power imbalance in our relationship, we never worked in the same field...we were just young and dumb raising a kid. Someone over 10 years older than a 19 year old, successful in the same career, making much more money, and vastly different stages in there life there is a power imbalance, and frankly it's just weird considering he did also know her as a minor. It's like my daughters current tutor who's about 7 years older than her turning up in a couple of years wanting to date her...I'm sorry but no lol.

The reason that I personally do not think you shouldn't just stick to what can actually be demonstrated through the law is for one there are a lot of laws in these instances that are bent and jumped over by powerful men....Donald Trump is my president unfortunately and proves just that lol. And two statistical analysis of power imbalanced relationships and under reporting of abuse signifies that he very well could have still abused and groomed her even if they could not prove it. The only time I think that this could ever be a healthy relationship that could work is if the younger partner is in their late 20s to early 30s when they have better brain development, potentially making the same amount or even more money, and more experience in life, and have a better grasp at what they are doing...ironically the same age as Kim Soo Hyun. He knew exactly what he was doing. I am not guaranteeing abuse, but yes I am highly suspicious of it even outside of what has been proven by the law because of these things.

My feelings about him are and always were 110% about what could have happened. I won't deny that at all. Women fight an uphill battle against men every single day and the statistics are always stacked against us. Our guard goes up for a reason because we've seen it time and time again before, and experienced it ourselves as well. If I went on a blind date with a 30 year old and he said his ex was 19...immediately I'm out. I am well aware that 19 is an adult. I am 39 with a 17 year old child. She in no way would be remotely ready for a relationship with a 30+ year old man at 19, and if one tried it I would fight tooth and nail against that relationship because wtf does a 30 year old want with a 19 year old? Statistics often show it usually isnt well intended. Look at my age gap with my daughter, a few more years and he logically could be looked at as her father...sorry that doesn't sit well with me at all.

And these are all my problems with the legal relationship. Like I said before just because they couldn't prove anything illegal happened doesnt mean it didn't happen, and that also would always be in the back of my mind.

She has paid the ultimate consequence to her life choices, and her shitty family...she's dead. He, a man in a misogynistic industry, who was at the top of his game and probably will be again, who decided to date someone who was still a teenager (19 is still a teenager) while in his 30s has been given every single opportunity to get his career back just because they cannot prove he groomed and/or assaulted....which again does not mean he did not do one or both of these things. That high of an age gap in a power imbalanced situation has many statistical studies that prove this could still be the case, and why many, including myself, will never trust this guy around any young woman or girl. I do not and will never feel sorry for him. I truly hope he did not break the law. If he did I am a firm believer in Karma lol. In any of these situations he was never a baby, he was always a grown ass man. There is a reason people have a deep resounding ick for this man. I will never trust him because of the choices HE made, and I really hope this is the last we hear from him. All I can offer you is to concede, because I agree that no crime has been proven yet. I truly hope he starts dating women his own age, and stays far far out of the limelight when it comes to controversy. And this has nothing to do with him being a celebrity I would say the same thing about any person in this situation.

Title Mystic Nine
Just finished. It was great 10/10. What a clever ending. Special shout out to Joseph Zeng, this was one of his best performances imo. Definitely recommend, but keep an open mind and have patience while watching. You won't be disappointed.

It still comes back to she contacted him, and she felt he was someone that might help. Him being a public figure and someone who dated her that still gives him some accountability to the outcome of this case imo, because she reached out to him. And like I said just because you cannot prove he did anything legally wrong, doesn't mean he did not. I already strongly believe he did many things morally wrong considering the power dynamic and his age. He knew better. His choices leave that grey area there. So, I will not feel sorry for him especially after a very public comeback. He has had plenty of support, plenty of offers, a very public and probably will be a very successful comeback. He had all the support in the world during this controversy, SHE never had anyone and she reached out to him. He chose his career and self preservation. If he gave a response like Jim Carrey did I would feel more sympathic and more nuanced about him. I'm fully aware they were two different cases my mention of Jim Carrey was due to his response. He did not do that. I will never say that Kim Soo Hyun committed a crime but I cannot respect his choices, his response, and as a woman I will always be suspicious of his motivations in this relationship. He was a successful attractive guy, he could have chose anyone and he chose her. So, that will be where I'm at with him. I can't look at him the same with these thoughts but I'm not going to go around calling him a rapist and/or pedo...there is no proof of that. I also will never put her death solely on him, there were a lot of other factors, but I do think he bears some of the responsibility.

And to add further perspective to why I will hold firm on all of these beliefs is I have a 17 year old daughter. Proof of a crime or not if ANY of these things took place in her life I would have a highly unfavorable opinion of the 30+ year old that chose to be in her life, and would ALWAYS be suspicious of him. But I am careful of my words accusing him of any crime. I also recognize her family, that shady YouTuber, the internet backlash, and many more as major contributes in her death.

I agree on POJ I was surprised at how underwhelmed I actually was considering the hype lol. What I will give it…
She looked like she was being held hostage in the bath scene lol 🤣. Someone a while back said that to me, "but the bath scene though," and I was like...I'm sorry I wanted to ask her if she was okay lol. Don't get me wrong I really like that actress, she was actually my main appeal to watching it, because I think she does comedy especially really well, but I discovered through watching POJ desire is just not her strong suit lol.

That's my hope that they look around and find better ones, and stick around for awhile, I mean if face cards are what they are looking for...there are plenty more where that came from too šŸ˜ lol.

Yeah those last 15 episodes were rough. I got to the point where I was like I hope you both die, that would make this better lol šŸ˜†. And the kiss scenes is it just me or did she not seem into it AT ALL? LOL.

I agree on POJ I was surprised at how underwhelmed I actually was considering the hype lol. What I will give it credit for is they did manage to make something that had mass appeal to new fans. It brought over a lot of new people.

"sci-fi like drama adaptations of Liu Cixin's books"

Yes please. I need more of that. Three Body is one of the best sci-fi's I have ever seen on any platform. It has sent me down the rabbit hole of his books. We need more of that. I devoured the trilogy.

I mean you're not wrong I have watched too much lol. I wouldn't necessarily call Mystic Nine lighter and easier though...that drama stressed me TF out lol. Pull Strings is 100% a complete hilarious breeze, it's been a gem so far.
