i actually really like this ending.. i don't understand why everyone is so pissed off about it
I've enjoyed this from beginning to end. The writing remained consistent, and everything came together storytelling-wise in the ending arc. And there's room for season 2.

A great ensemble story. At first you wonder what is going on with all these wacky people and plots. But by the end, you realize that no one can shoulder the fate of the world solely on their own shoulders. It is only because of love and our bonds of fellowship that we can hope to change the fate of this world for good. Is it fate or our own free will? That is the question for the ages.

And Jin Chan can go to hell. That's all I have to say.

Yeah the progress on their romance is even slower than a glacier moving 😆. But it’s a nice understated one. Could be interpreted as friendship or family, but it’s intentional enough in the writing to make the reader/audience want more too I think. Tao Yao is a hilarious but mysterious heroine - not a typical one for sure.
