The tone of this drama isn't a full out serious drama. So even Lord Zheng, who has been the main antagonist so far, doesn't always seem 100% evil. The actor portraying him, however, has played many a great villain, including in the recent Zhao Zhan Adventures.

As far as Zheng Shi, we have yet to see. As of episode 22, it seems that he can put his skills to use for good, but I think he mostly just cares to please Fan Yun. Maybe something is down the road that will push him one way or the other. I don't know the original story, so I'm just guessing.

Yes, they need more scenes together - both funny and serious ones. Honestly, I find more chemistry between them two than with the FL. Not romantic chemistry, just more interesting to watch them together on screen, but that's me.

It's better after ep 10, so if you have time, I'd give it another chance.

Yeah, I don't know what the previews are referring to (never read the novel or watched the anime). I just need the plot to plotify some more because yes, we have 16 episodes to go and some action is needed in all departments (romance, plot, something).

Enter new annoying maybe villain character: Lord Cai.

I'm hoping to see The Days of Seclusion and Love get released. He looks amazing in that one.

The first 10 episodes are confusing, and I feel the story only really gets going after that, so if you make it there, it's much better from then on.

I think in the last couple episodes, we're finally getting to know Zheng Shi more. He's not just the annoying, obsessive dude around Fan Yun. They actually have an honest conversation for once. So I think it's developing in a better direction. The story pacing is slower than maybe we've been used to in more recent C dramas.

Still waiting for official confirmation, but there are a lot of rumors I've seen lately, so it's getting pretty real.

I don't like this Lord Cai. He better stay away from Yan Jiang and everyone else for that matter.

But this story is finally rolling - got some more action today.

Ep 17: Ok, Lord Zheng actually making me feel feels while eating an egg? It's a side of him I hope to see more of. But why do I just have a feeling he's going to meet some bad end? Like the foreshadowing of his health not being good...

Nice to see that Zheng Shi can actually be somewhat normal in this episode when he's not constantly trying to win over Fan Yun. If only he could work together with Qi Zheng...

Same (as far as the love triangle goes, it’s lacking in oomph). If they gonna do a love triangle, make it 🔥 and go for it. Otherwise I’m enjoying the wackiness of this show and some of the more meaningful moments regarding women and friendship.

Deng Wei has been really underused in this drama. I thought his character would feature more, but he’s been mostly relegated to being the annoying, obsessive 2ML. Maybe that will change in the 2nd half of the drama, but we’ll see.

Yeah, I love Ai Mi too, but I agree, let’s give her time to grow into her roles

Heavily rumored to join Divas Hit the Road season 8. Latest rumor is to start filming 7/4 for about 28 days, visiting Mexico, Argentina and Peru.

After this, should be joining the Bai Yao Pu production.

Maybe for the first few episodes, I agree it’s hard to know what is going on lol. But I’ve seen plenty of dumber shows get higher Douban scores. It’s like MDL: some scores you agree with, some you don’t because people like different things.

I agree. Story is progressing now and spending more time with characters. Wish it had been like this from the start, oh well
