In his first life, Dylan Wang's character (Song Qianji) started from the absolute bottom. He was a rogue cultivator…
In the novel, women and men liked him, but there’s no official couple. You can ship him with any of the characters.

Title Light to the Night Spoiler
Is Qiao Suqing the real top “evil woman?”Qiao Suqing is from single parent family and her mother wants to…
Your comment, “He is now abusing her, and your argument is that since you love your parent you should stay and allow them to abuse you?”

Bro, I never inserted my opinion on whether Xu Meng should stay or leave her father. I said that *she cares about her father,* this is supported by her actions and dialogue in the story!

You wrote lengthy criticisms of her decision to stay with her father, relying on counterfactuals such as “she could have left,” “she had other options,” or “fathers could have sacrificed themselves.” These what-ifs are irrelevant to what actually happened and the reasons behind it.

The first time she rejected her BF, she wanted a family that included her father, but the second time she rejected him, her mindset already changed, she only wanted to be with Qiao. At that point, Qiao had become the emotional center of her life.

You said, “Xu Meng can burn a child alive just because he bumped into her…how do you explain Xu Meng murdering the boy who bumped into her? Certainly that can't be blamed on Qiao Su Qing?”

You need to rewatch it. They believed Keyboard Boy had seen Qiao’s face. Xu Meng killing Keyboard Boy was no different from how she treated her other victims—she eliminated anyone who stood in *their* way.

No one said Xu Meng was innocent anyway. She had long since fallen into darknes. I simply pointed out that, in 1995, before and during the Mount Wu trip, Xu Meng was portrayed as a reserved and sweet girl. Because of that, it is entirely possible that she grew up with a loving father. Of course, he’s no longer the same person and far from being good to her.

The director was very low key about Qiao Suqing being a high-level manipulator of Xu Meng’s deep attachment to her and Ran’s kind and sympathetic heart. He doesn’t frame her with obvious “villain signals.” Her manipulation is embedded in ordinary interactions, emotional timing, and restraint. That kind of manipulation is subtle: making someone believe their devotion is self-directed while quietly reinforcing it.

Agree that the show was so good! I just hope Dylan won’t film something this scary again! 😭 I got spooked a few times.

It's hard to understand your argument about Xu's BF/Father. You seem to agree w/ my points, but you blame her to "stay in that toxic situation and gave up her chance at love.” So your opinion is that she should abandon the father and run away with BF? Well, she didn't because, to my point, she “cared about her father,” which you seem to also agree with. Xu Meng, “I've owed him since the day I was born.”
I said Xu's father "not want her to sell herself for money" vs you said "despised her selling herself + blame her for not able to get money in any other way?" Is there a difference?

His reaction and response further supports that Xu Meng turned to prostitution and loan sharks behind his father's back. The reason he didn’t stop her or he is selfish isn’t because he wasn’t a loving father, it’s because he is under the influence of drugs. He beats her for his medication. He no longer has control of himself and he is mentally unstable.

He told her to pack up and run away with him. What else can he do? Certainly not suicide like you suggested! Drug addiction is a temporary condition.

I don't think you tear down my theory at all. You just seem to take what Qiao Suqing & Xu Meng said at face value and repeating it. In their testimonies there are some truths & some lies. We need to assess the clues and we can only guess by ourselves, since the dead can't testify.

Xu Meng never disclosed what happened at Mount Wu. Mount Wu trip was solely Qiao Suqing’s own testimony. She kept changing her story & using the excuse of being knocked out to cover up what really happened. Ultimately, she said she woke up alone not knowing anything!

The *fact* that there were 3 sets of rice bowls and chopsticks at Xu Meng's home, suggests Qiao was possibly there when Xu's father was killed. Xu's father blamed Qiao specifically for his situation, so he knows whatever she is hiding. Did Qiao pushed him at Mount Wu? Qiao's mother is the one frozen to death, so did her clothes got snatched? According to her Aunt, Qiao's mother planned to sell her! Qiao seems to have a motive to eliminate her. It's very possible that she did it herself. Let me put it more bluntly that it is likely Qiao's idea to meet at Mount Wu. :)

For Xu Meng, she “just want a family,” so the idea of having a real sister is a dream come true. There is no clue that Xu's father was abusive and heartless person *before* Mount Wu. If he was abusive all her life, then it makes sense they both wanted their parents dead in Mount Wu.

However, there are plenty of clues that Xu Meng's life took a turn *after* the Mount Wu incident. This was confirmed by her relatives, "Xu Meng was a good kid…her father was
perfectly fine before,” and according to Xu’s cousin, “My uncle is actually a good man. He raised Meng all by himself. It wasn't easy.” Ran said, “So Xu Zhihong was a loving father?”
Their old photos show how happy and normal they looked. Her relatives are willing to help her! In the 1995 scenes with her ex-bf, she was a timid and reserved person!

The cold and evil Xu Meng you described was after she has since long fallen into darkness.
In winter of 1996 (1 1/2 yr after Mount Wu), her aunt cut her off, she took up high interest loans, and killed old man Yao. For this favor, Suqing gifted her the Bowls dress on New Years Eve (Dec 31, 1996) and offer her home to her. A little too late, isn't it? No other gifts besides this dress.

Yao Xincheng bought the Bowls dress two days before on Dec 29, 1996 and gifted it to Qiao Suqing. Old man Yao was already dead by this time.

Sure, old man Yao is repeatedly abusive to nannies, but for him (who could barely walk on his own) to frequently climbed all those stairs to the 17 flr all by himself to peep at girls, a more reasonable assumption is simply he wasn't doing that to Qiao. This point is supported by Qiao Suging's reputation as big boss Yao's "mistress" (security guard, Du Mantun, Manager Qian, etc). It was brought up a few times from 1997 to 2015. Manager Qian said to Suqing in 2015, "Everyone from Yuanlongli knows what kind of person you use to be." Those witnesses at Yuanlongli have more credibility than her words. She has a closet full of expensive gifts and a whole apartment gifted to her to support this. She didn't have to move out after Yao no longer need a nanny.

How do you know she is not manipulative? If her true face is so easy to see than I wouldn't have named her top evil woman. For someone who lived in darkness all her life, she can *dismember a body herself* and she can continue to live in that *tainted* house like nothing happened. In Ran’s words, “All these years, how could you act like nothing happened when facing me. You hid it so well, for so long.”
Her mentality is not of a normal person, she is willing to do anything to stand in the sunlight. This includes eliminating Ran because she never intended to turn herself in. By using Xu Meng to get rid of Ran, she could avoid having to surrender. Her true self already revealed when she showed up at HYH's house at 8 PM.

Qiao is just like Yukiko in Keigo Higashino's "Journey Under the Midnight Sun" extremely skilled at disguising herself and using the evil in human nature to accomplish her own "evil"!

I'm not seeing Deng Kai in cast, thought he'd be here
The cast list is not updated yet on MDL. Deng Kai is playing Huangfu Hao, probably a guest role.
