I think when it initially happened and he was in shock, it most definitely made him feel awkward to speak. However, if he lost his hearing years ago, he had time to adapt to said hearing loss. Therefore, he shouldn’t also become mute by choice. He could definitely learn to control the volume of his voice by now. It is more practical to use his voice and speak instead of writing down his thoughts. There are plenty of people who lose their hearing later down in life due to illness, accidents, or age and yet they are still able to use their voice.

Thanks for the explanations. I really hope they do explain it more. I understand that it may be a psychological side effect as to why he chooses (not that he couldn’t but chooses) to not speak, but it’s frustrating given that they’re treating him as a fully disabled person who is incapable of taking care of himself. Don’t get me started on how messed up it is that his mother refused to let him outside. Her son has a hearing impairment but he’s not low functioning.

I can’t overlook two plot holes and I’m hoping more will be revealed later to make it make sense.
1. The deaf and mute. If it only happened a few years ago, he should be able to speak. So why mute? Let’s see if more will be explained later.
2. If Heart accused Li Meng of breaking shit, why would mama hire him to work IN THE HOUSE? I would want you to GFTO and away from my precious liquor collection. Nonetheless, I forgive this because I need Li Meng close to Heart.
