I feel like the writers wanted us to emphasize with him in this episode and understand his side of things, and…
1. It is not under discussion that Sang Do is delusional and never had a chance with Sam Dal. I don't think Yong Pil goes as far as feeling sorry for him, and he was not "happy" when they talked in the park, on the contrary, even when the focus is far from that two childhood friends have been in bad terms for days because Sang Do treats him differently now, and little or more than that, Yong Pil cannot be happy about that, and must be hoping for Sang Do to exit his delusion to get his friend back.

2. Yes, Sang Do started liking Sam Dal before Yong Pil, Yong Pil and Sam Dal have liked each other even from before they knew what that meant, and I am sure that the whole community and their families were aware of this based on the wishes they have for both of them to be together. Let's imagine he did not know before, he knows now, and he saw everything since the beginning. Sang Do never stepped back, he never even had a chance which should have been a sign. It does not matter if they broke up, or if it has been 10 years, it is wrong, since you are still friends with Yong Pil, and you should have moved on from the moment they started dating originally.

3. I disagree, while I also believed that Sam Dal was able to cut ties and leave everyone behind, it seems like her biggest sacrifice was keeping her true love and friends close in her heart while pretending she didn't care and trying her best to move on. She is already affected by the people around Yong Pil and feels responsible for him if anything happens and if he would end up alone, which is not exclusive to his father, but also the next thing when it comes to his personal circle which is his childhood friend. She would be hurt if she felt that for her fault, Yong Pil was left alone.

Those "rules" created by men have an origin and they are based on moral, logic, common sense, culture, behavior patterns and so much more. I am not talking about childish behavior, but about actual consideration and respecting your friends and family.

Bite your tongue oNbody, everything in this drama was healthy as it should be..
Agree and disagree... While everything in this shows adds something from context, to plot to character development, there are some scenes that this show could do without, but you can always skip when you feel you need to.

I love how you and a group of you think you win an argument by insulting, you are very funny. Nobody said anything about liking a friend, but liking the girl that your friend likes, to what he cannot claim ignorance because the whole town knows about this from the moment they were born when they were literally matched by their mothers. Yes, he is hurting people around him, himself included; it doesn't matter how "mature" the writers want to paint the male lead or how understanding he seems, knowing that what was supposed to be a close friend is willing to hurt your feelings cannot feel good, and more when you have such a big struggle trying to connect to the person you love. The minimum thing you expect from your friends in their support and the less you expect is that a friend will make things difficult for you; and there is the potential of hurting the girl, since she is already struggling as well with the relationship and the guy's father, and having a close friend falling for her on top of that would only open her wound more. About the "silly code of a teenage boy", I'll prove you wrong with an example: Let's say a 45 year old man is divorced from his wife because of a family problem (parallel to the story in this drama), but he has always loved her even after the divorce and she loves him to; they are now getting closer and closer again and everyone around them can see this, but guess what, he has a friend that is like his brother, a friend that went to his wedding and has known the couple since before they were married, but now approaches his very best friend to tell him that he likes his ex wife and he will not give up on getting her this time ... It does not matter the age, and the same happens with girls, so it is not about gender either... It is completely fine if you are not bothered by this, but this definitely against the Bro Code, which is no more than a short version of loyalty and respect between close friends and family.

Same boring plot like most romance cdrama are. Toxic parents and the chinese fav theme: you need to get married,…
I learned from a friend that it is not the plot or the story, but how you tell the story and get me into the plot. The problem is not the toxic parents, but the fact that it feels like a copy in most cases. I need smart writing and a different approach for me to get into it...

1. they get together at ep 272. there's no breakup in this drama
The episodes go by fairly quickly, and some business and even family scenes can be skipped and you won't miss much, and will get faster to their getting together... I personally am rewatching this and I will be skipping some characters without any regret...

Definitely FL has to face lots of love rivals in future. He is in his prime and handsome, will get lots of attention…
This kind of shows "need" love triangles on both sides. Writers love to focus on the female lead's love triangle with a guy that is the opposite of the male lead, and the best option on paper, which makes everything about who she actually loves in the end, I guess, but to make things fair, and for the female to become a bit jealous and maybe be pushed towards the male lead earlier, a love triangle (an unsuccessful one of course) might be needed on the male lead's side...

No she wasn't, she just wanted what she thought was best for her daughter... Maybe she made some wrong choices…
A person does not have to be evil to be "wrong" or to harm others, which is what this woman represents. She is manipulative and like many do in real life, is projecting on her daughter and setting her own expectations on her like she was her avatar in a videogame. Yes, a mother should worry about their child, but if that "child" is an adult, the mother should change roles to a supporter and and not a puppeteer master...

Why does Cdrama writers like to put a age difference romance between a younger man and older woman late in getting…
This is true for older women and young men romances, and not only that, they always get a love triangle with someone that seems to be the best option "on paper", but I feel like writers should work harder on making the male lead the right choice beyond being crazy in love...

As long as they don't use a stupid love triangle or break up during these three episodes, I will be happy to watch them as soon as I finish my rewatch of "The Rational Life"...

At this point... I assume that...
This show will not have a break up after the leads get together again, because I cannot even begin to imagine that the writers would be so inconsiderate or disrespectful towards to audience to have the main leads break up after all this time waiting and for a "healing" drama...

argh I am sick of seeing sang do. mate it’s episode 14, you are their childhood friend and you really haven’t…
I feel like the writers wanted us to emphasize with him in this episode and understand his side of things, and how painful a one sided love really is (maybe even as a parallel to the one sided love that FL claimed for her and ML), but like me, and you, this cannot be the case because Sang Do is not someone who deserves pity, since he did all this to himself by breaking the Bro Code, and even after that for being delusional and completely out of place as a "friend" and a member of the community in a small town where everyone knew ML and FL belong together!

Then you might want to switch genres, haha, cause they're not going away... between these two tropes, you've covered…
I have had the pleasure to find what I mentioned before a few times, but I hope more options are available in the near future

Title Welcome to Samdal-ri Spoiler
He’s a fucking prick first of all that was her sister of a bf she lost and she’s more heart broken than this…
At this point I am sure that all the hate from the father and the stress he constantly causes to the mother which also reminded her of the death of her very best friend is the mai. reason why she is sick... He doing two things his wife would hate to happen; he is breaking their kids apart and he is literally, killing her best friend...
