I know that's your narrative but since he wasn't there at the win, my narrative is that he was already gone or dead. I don't think he wanted her with him when he died; he wanted her to live her life being what she had set out to do.
Yes, most will answer that would be as a peddler, but for me, that couldn't be true because she could have been a peddler after what happened at Episode 18, when she was alone and traveling "the world." No, she set out to go into the city to be the top of her abilities and when she found out it had to be through the Guild, she aimed for the top.
Her setting out again into the world as a peddler should not be IMMEDIATELY because that makes no sense to me per her CHARACTER. Like I keep joking, if other people's narrative is that she went off for 40 years alone, then mine would be ZJR jumping in his own caravan and following her around for 39 years before he died of old age and just before her old woman's voice gave the epilogue. Because that would be what he would do per HIS character.
The Duan Wu who became SMZ would have accepted her position, made her mark as a jeweler and leader of women while forgiving and making some sort of friendship with Cui, THEN in later years gave it up to the latter before going on her world tour. That would be more her character's attitude, which was the thing that YZJ loved most.

To me, the ending had several flawed things that negate many of Duan Wu's ambitions and personality. Also, the appointment of Cui19 was a disappointment to me. I know Duan Wu was supposed to be this generous person, etc. etc., but have we (and she) forgotten all she had done against YZJ? Those early episodes, when she acted callously against them, muahaha-ing about taking away all their pride and lives and in the later episodes when she was determined to kill YZJ. No repentance could have earned any FL's forgiveness or giving her that ONE thing she wanted--the whole damn guild. Yeeesh.

Yes, it was definitely the Sleeper of 2024! And no matter what the others say, no other drama has come close to how smart and intriguing this drama was written. It was the Candle Kiss that got many to start feeling cheated because they weren't complaining before. You could watch it, and stop before episode 40. I liked about 90% of the plot.
Not mentioned in that last segment. They made her all alone--brave bad strong female cliche. That's why I didn't like it. I prefer that she went traveling with 2ML :). At least, THAT'S life and what Yan would want her to do.
