I think she remembers being at the party but they didn't meet in part because she got mad at another guest and maybe also her father and left early. ML saw her in action giving said guest, who is her parents' peer, the business and he was filled with admiration for her.

I think he usually looks like he needs a blood transfusion and some happy pills but looked really handsome with the helmet.

I think that in addition to being upset that he allegedly hadn't reached out to her when he clearly had time in the ambulance to call his mother, that she was also upset that he didn't think she'd be worried about him.
