i won’t say that these were 22 hours wasted or however long it lasts. no. i’ll say that it added to my collection of dramas that frayed my nerves in a bad way. the drama is based on real events, and i expected that the modern perspective of the screenwriters, directors, and everyone who worked on this drama would allow me to make sense of life in joseon of that time, mostly of a court lady who essentially has little will of her own anyway, but at least has a choice of how to live, yet she was forcibly made the king’s concubine. instead i got the king’s suffering, which was undoubtedly the center of this drama, and what users called a great love for me turned out to be a story about a king for whom his beloved was more of a favorite object than a truly loved woman. yes, this is a plausible depiction of a joseon king, yet it’s troubling that such actions seemed normal to many people now and the creators of the drama help normalize it. it’s scary to go into the comments after watching and see “the king loved her so sincerely and she was so cold for refusing him for so long.” his possessive behavior won’t let me believe in the genuineness of his feelings for her. i didn’t get enough of the story from the main heroine’s perspective, whose biggest flaw was that she fell in love with a person like the king. her suffering should have been the center of the series, not the other way around.
I swear to god the things people call boring these days is beyond me. You all are doomed due to doomscrolling…
before accusing me, please ask why i find it boring instead of generalizing. is the word "boring" banned now? i don’t watch tiktok or similar apps for quick dopamine. i’m just comparing it to other dramas i’ve seen. i wrote "boring" because the actions felt too predictable - i’ve seen them in other works before. i’m not saying it’s a fact, i just wanted to share my impression! is that not allowed anymore?
why are you coming at me like that. i'm not stopping you from enjoying the drama. i'm just stating my own opinion. i've been skeptical about the ml from the very beginning but what's happening in the latest episodes is getting to me and the way this kind of behavior is being romanticized. for me that's not ok and that's it.
this kdrama lost its spark for me. everything moved way too fast just for the ml to turn into a jealous guy who's jealous of her work lol wtf it's not even funny
i’m watching it for kim bum. if it weren’t for him, i wouldn’t have even started. the main characters don’t make me feel anything because of their dumb behavior. it’s not funny.
i went in expecting it to be weak, but it completely hooked me from the very first minute. the actors did a great job, and i wish them success in their future careers.
1. diva deva mata - 10 god i was laughing literally every second. all the characters are just insanely adorable! i’ll definitely rewatch it!!
2. "hi" by my luck - 9.5 they’re so cute, i couldn’t stop watching. the chemistry between them is unreal. it’s one of the first bl stories that made me want to keep exploring the bl world!
3. not my father! - 9 it was a bit boring at first, but in the end i was laughing just like with the first two parts. i also really like the chemistry between the main characters!
4. love me if you swear - 8.5 i’m not really into this kind of setting, and it’s a similar trope to the first story, but i still gave in and got invested in these boys. even though tum kinda messed things up 🫵 i hope he treats oh better from now on!
5. love lock - 8 the main character is an idiot. i needed more development from him and more conclusions. yeah, they were there, but still not enough for me to believe he’ll actually change and won’t treat his new girlfriend the same way. i really liked the aesthetic and the comedic moments. the actors did a great job, i could feel the sparks between them
6. hello, is this luck? - 7.5 kind of meh. i didn’t like the bi representation. it leaned into the stereotype that bi people don’t know what they want. there are already so few stories with bi characters, so getting something like this from a company that specializes in queer content is even more disappointing
7. fist foot fusion - 7? i barely remember anything because the story just went right past me. this one actually made me stop watching the rest for a while. i remember being annoyed by the main character and even the actor playing him. i didn’t like the plot or the comedy either, so i just couldn’t connect with this story
overall i’d give it an 8.5. out of all the gmmtv lakorns i’ve seen, i think this is one of the best projects!
i like the storyline and the secondary couple, but the main couple is kinda meh... i don’t like the trope where the main character inhabits another person and the other male lead thinks he’s that person but doesn’t see who he really is, and here it’s even more pushy. phop doesn’t let him take a single step without him
