Yes, China, if not publicly is very much against homosexual marriage/relationships etc. You will find no homosexual drama's in which the leads are explicitly in a relationship, as censorship say's 'No abnormal sexual relationships should be shown' instead they would be marketed as 'friends' or 'brotherly love'. Any dramas adapted from novels with the leads in a homosexual relationship would be changed to this as well. Any foreign films with 'gay' scenes either will not air in China, or the scenes will have to be cut from the film. They are also starting to ban effeminate or 'less masculine men' from the media and regulate the way men present themselves on social media; piercings and long hair are blurred for broadcast (Less about being gay, but still about Chinese idea about controlling male identity). It's more than being traditional, no LGBTQ+ people are legally protected from abusive relationships or even discrimination.
