Very well said. I’ve cried my eyes out when HHY walked away after XCS begged her to wait for him. She is beyond belief and I’m shipping hard for Xiaomei to be together with XCS and hope he realises quickly that she has always been there for him.

The latest episodes are great. We have at last a deep and meaningful conversation between Xiaomey & XCS. There are so many details when Xiaome took XCS for a walk and ate noodles. The noodles stand owner gave them eggs and talked to them being a couple, when she told him about his dad always talking about XCS when his dad still had his memory together. These scenes are very meaningful and are a bit a teaser of what lies ahead for both of them. HHL is so negative & everything is black and white and my ways only. It was very cruel of her to just walked away after he asked her to wait for him whilst he is recovering. The girl lacks of human compassion. I am also frustrated to watch so much HHL and YHG scenes complaining about how they are not as good as XCS and how they can only be them to justify their actions.

HHL & YHG deserve each other even though they kind of feel guilty for their own decisions but they are both selfish at the end of the day. It is very cruel of HHL to let go of her hands and walk away after XCS asked her to wait for him. I understand that she is scared of having to support someone physically and financially in addition to her mother but the girl lacks of human decency and compassion unfortunately. I think both HHL and YHG will never be satisfied with what they already but they want more even though it is at the expense of others.

I assume during the revolution time any aristocracy families are considered to be the bad capitalists, those that exploit the working class. XSC did reiterate to Amaon that time has changed and that he should not be ashamed of his family’s background. I completely understand how Amao feels.

Agreed, we all know from the start that HHL does not understand XSC and there are many things that she cannot relate to him. She has not only behaving that way with XSC but she has been using Tian Qi all along even though she does not have any feelings for him. What I do not understand is why does she get all the attention of all 3 men and Xiaomei who is a good person gets none of this why script writer?

Hey, good to see you here as well. I like the storyline of the drama so far. It is sad to see Xiaomei falling for XSC but he does not even feel it and she has to suppress this love by telling herself that they are only friends. She is subconsciously trying to reconnect with him through his dad and sister in his absences. I like her character, a good, positive, loyal and determined person. XSC and Xiaomei are quite similar in many ways.

I don’t think it will be over this argument. I saw some previews showing that XSC was sent in some kind of battlefield and he got seriously injured which potentially make him paralysed for life. HHL was seen saying goodbye to XSC as in partying ways. Given this big event, HHL may be thinking about her mum’s comment about choosing the right partner to elevate her life and not having to financially struggle in her life then perhaps YGH may be her end game. Xiaomei was the one saving XSC’s life when he got injured and she is encouraging and accompanying him in this long journey to recovery. Both of them have always been positive and encouraging each other to pursue their own dreams. I think they are both idealistic, have dreams for themselves and others so it makes sense that they will eventually fall for each other. It makes me sad to see Xiaomei working so hard to become a doctor but also longing for XSC’s love which he does not seem to realise.

HHL will leave XSC in future episodes when XSC got seriously injured when he was sent to some kind of battlefield that made him handicapped in the wheelchair. I assume that HHL seeing that XSC may be paralysed for the rest of his life may decide to just part ways with XSC as there was a scene where they said goodbye with both of them crying. It will be Xiaomei that will accompany/encourage him in this long recovery period with all her care and love. I think sometimes one has to go such an event in his life to realise that the person that he is looking is right in front of him.

I do think that Ye Fang is not a bad person, she is just realist. Whilst she used CHJ to get rid of her arranged engagement, she is also pushing CHJ to study to be able to entrance exam and have a better life with higher education. She herself has dreams to study English and be free if I am not wrong and she does not want to be stuck in a life that she does want to embark on.

I have just watched the trailer and there is scene where it is shown a group photo of friends & family towards the end of the drama I assume with Xiaomei & XCS, YF, his sister with Qi Tian, the other 2 childhood friends with no YGH, nor HHL and no CHJ. The song just says I have a dream and that I am chasing after a girl’s footsteps like I am chasing my Dre and and I finally saw you.

It is a shame that he does not see through it yet.

Very good analysis of her character and fully concur with this. I do think that Xiaomei and XCS are both independent, hardworking and will always think of others first before themselves. They will eventually end up together as they are not scared of taking a bumpy ride along the way to achieve their own dream. Whilst XCS is smart and could read his friends’ mind but it is a shame that he cannot feel Xiaomei’s good heart 😢.

Very well said. I love it so far and the capture around Beijing area makes me miss China so much. The drama has shown so many aspects of a society in transformation and opening to the world. I cannot help but thinking of me learning about the Chinese culture which is so dear to my roots and traditions.

No, I have not seen GMP unfortunately. Why did they kill her family though, is it for the purpose of stealing her family’s business and rising to power (via the SFL’s military power) as I remember that her family is a rich and prominent family in the region? It is a bit confusing for me. The revenge plot seems a bit extreme to me.

I was thinking the same thing that SML killed the Gu’s family and the maid. Please see my comment to Xiaofang below. I think that the part where the maid said that she saw XHY killed the Gu’s family is a bit misleading as I was assuming it was directing at the SML instead.
