Didn’t YL say that the emperor passed away by the time his brother arrived in the capital? Now I don’t know how the edict ended up in YL’s mum hands, perhaps she persuaded him that if the edict was to be delivered by her father with the law adopted then this would have helped his brother with the trust of the institution by the court?

LQJ was amnestied by the new emperor after 3 years or so being in prison & got out to re-join the Yu army. He was sent back to their hometown to investigate on the new Japanese ink maker in town. LZ was cold with him at first but later on joined forces together with all the ink makers in huizhou to make a new type of ink to compete with the Japanese ink. Li inks & all their friends in makers won the new ink competition. Her 8th grandpa died, LQJ told LZ that he still loves her & vice versa. They got back together but unfortunately LQJ got called back to the arm6 to fight against the uprisings. The ending scene was LZ looking over a beautiful lake with LQJ coming back to her. The way the scene was shown was like LZ was in a dream that LQJ would return to her but it was not a reality , hence I thought this ending was weird.
