Agreed. The way they slightly changed the storyline does not completely come natural I.e a scene when SML snicked in the house to see Hangjing and asked her to run away with him. There was a moment of hesitation in Hangjing to kind of pondered should I or should I not. They should have just made her to be more assertive when it comes to her love to Beicheng instead of showing this. Then again it is just me, any thoughts on that please?

I feel you LOL. The thing this there are many heartbreaks in the novel minus the schemings of SFL and the sister. I was crying my eyes out reading the novel.

In the novel, she is very stubborn with many prejudices against Beicheng. I understand the way she behaves with him to some extent when she was bullied by him, domineering and taking decisions. But he has also tried to change for her, love her despite his own shortcomings. However, she has not shown any feelings for him all along and the way I see it is quite cruel. She only realises her love for him only towards the end of the novel when he does not know whether he will survive tin the battlefields or not. Hence, she has only told him that they have a son and he grows up nicely as a toddler. They both have lots of communication issues and trust in each other to be able to move past them.

I don’t think she is married to someone else. In the novel, she pretends that she is married to that man but in reality she is working as Tutor/nanny for his son. That man happens to be the one that saved Beicheng from death in the past. The drama’s writers may have changed the storyline of the novel though.

I’m hoping that the writers would keep the main points of the storyline and change a bit with the support roles. Hence, I still hope that the baby may not be lost after all but I may be wrong.

As explained below, Hanjing still had her baby. The baby boy was premature but survived. The FL had not tell the ML until the end when she realised that he was in a dire situation of death in the battlefields and decided to tell him about their child and stay with him. She also realised that all her hatred all these 8 years for the ML may not be all hatred but also love and the child is that link between them two. The ML’s existence & presence are ingrained in her heart.

I have not watched these episodes yet but I think there may be a twist (alternate the storyline by the writers) in the loss of the baby. It may be a plot that the doctors may have been paid by Fenqui so as to create a rift in the couple and then the FL would take the final decision to leave the ML for good. In the novel, she was pregnant of his child ( after he raped her) and then ran away with the help of his sister. She disappeared for 2 years and came back working as a teacher at and worked as a tutor/nanny to the man’s child you saw in the trailer. Think about it, it may be possible otherwise title would be too easy for us to see through the plot wouldn’t it?

I kind of agree with you given that Hanjing & Beicheng really have a very difficult/dramatic relationship in the novel. At least here in the drama, the writers have given them some moments of tenderness and love.

I forgot to mention that Beicheng & Hangjing got married later on when the SML was out of the picture.

I think the drama’s writers have changed the novel’s storyline a bit. For example, in the novel Hangjing was really in love with Mu Zicheng. When Hangjing & the SML were about to run away, they were stopped by Beingcheng and beingcheng shot the SML without killing him. brochent & Hangjing were not married.

I'm not quite sure in this drama but in the novel, she has a baby boy with Beicheng but the baby was premature and quite sick. Hence, she left to the US and join her parents to be able to receive proper medical treatments.

As for the sister, she is naughty but she means no harm. She did help Hangjin to run away and left her own brother but she r has shown remorse and guilt for having done so.

The ML raped her and the child is with the ML. That was the part I did not enjoy from the novel. I think what pushed BeiCheng to rape Hanjing is the misunderstanding between both of them, and immaturity of their relationship. The novel was quite sad actually, she has hated him all along and he has not learnt to turn it down a bit but instead get angry easily.

To be honest, I was more drawn towards their love/hate relationship so other side stories are less important to me.

Not sure in this drama but I’ve read from someone on Weibo that they have a baby. In the novel, they have a son but the boy only knows that he has a father through a photo on the newspaper when she was with her son in the US at the end of the novel.

No worries, I must say that I was crying my eyes out when I read the novel.

My recollection of the novel is that he died in the middle of the book. The ML shot him the first time but without killing him as he was about to run away with the FL. Mum was sent far away by Beicheng and Mu became a gangster. The ML’s men killed Mu later on. When she found that Beicheng killed Mu and then the rape, she ran away to the US. The man you see with her in the trailer is actually her boss. Whilst giving birth to her child I after the rape, e works for this man as his son’ s nanny.
