OMG.....it just rubs ya the wrong way, doesn't it? It was DIFFICULT to overlook the translation.....took a lot of willpower for the logic part of my brain to just go 'bad translation' and try so hard to ignore it! lol Luckily, you can HEAR what they are saying, so it was better for me at least. But totally sucks if you have zero understanding/knowledge of mandarin!

Agreed. those eps before the last were a little ridiculous, so I like to pretend they don't exist. Unnecessary drama that made no sense! Awkward writing. VERY cringe. And I really hate the self sacrificing trope....especially when there was no need for it here.! The story would have been fine without all that chaos.

Alright....starting in ep 8, things got more interesting. I was starting to get bored, so am pleasantly surprised. They put all the best bits in eps 8 and 9. I appreciated that the main story arch finally got some focused attention. I guess I cared less about the BL part of the story since the tropey BL stuff was WAY too awkward for my taste. But it cool if that's your thing :) Overall, the series is worth a watch so long as you have some caffeine to get you through the long dragged out boring stuff in middle....and just fast forward through all the Hongye stuff.....she grated on my last nerve and added nothing to the story.....unless her character's purpose was to be a very poorly written 'red herring' that the writers just abandoned or forgot about? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
