Strictly speaking, not an oxymoron…..more a paradoxical expression…. Anyways, regardless of our differing take on this mise en scène, we’re both leaning towards a positive angle and rooting for the ML & FL to be together! 👏🏻

I think it’s the way that fire scene and time skip was done. I found it a bit weird too. I can’t pinpoint exactly why but it looked amateurish and takes a while for viewers (for me at least) to realise it was a time skip.

Hmm…..lemme try to recall…. 12 letters, the heart, pursuit of jade, moonlit reunion…these are more recent ones I can rem….i usually forget what I’ve watched very quickly… these are quite watchable but not fantastic…. I think.

I think they swapped it with MJ proposing instead…..I think that night when she had insomnia and they sat on chatting…. I think she proposed…🤔

And I think they showed that random scene of him setting up his new billiard hall to signify that he’s really settling down in HaiCheng…. MJ was starting to get anxious seeing CY lazing about and looking really bored. She was fearing he might leave her again…this time out of sheer boredom…🤭🤣

I don’t think that’s the production team’s intent…. I think they wanted people to be curious and hooked to find out more….but I think the execution was a little chaotic…. It could’ve been done better…but not a big issue.

TBH I’ve not watched and completed many modern romance Cdrama. I tend to watch more period ones…..or modern ones with no romance….. Those that I did watch, I can’t recall any worth recommending…. there were quite a few I dropped before hitting 20%…so, if you’d like to know which ones to avoid, I can give you a list 😅😝

I guess that’s the reason why I tend towards C-dramas that are not modern romance. Somehow the formula for modern romance C-dramas don’t have much of a story or plot (at least for those I’ve checked out) - just either lots of fluff or angst…and quite tropy- eg. domineering CEO romance; school romance, etc.

I am however currently starting on one which so far until ep 5 is still quite enjoyable - my genius girlfriend. My only grouse at this stage is that the ML & FL are playing high school classmates in the early episodes and they don’t quite look the part….especially the ML.

Heheheh U r spot on! Ive just completed the drama and it’s really about nothing much! The last episode especially is so incredibly frivolous…😅 it’s not unwatchable but I guess people might end up ranting here because the rating here is so high.

I’m like a abt 3 or 4 episodes short of completing this drama and I really have to say there’s really not much of a plot, not much purpose, no real villain, no climax….

But surprisingly it’s still quite watchable to me coz it’s mostly a feel-good, very little angst (unless u r rooting for the 2ML), mostly smooth sailing, super rich & luxurious setting kind of drama. I mean the main sob story is - ML can no longer be a neurosurgeon so he had no choice but to become the boss of a conglomerate & inherit company shares. Soooo poor thing…..🙄🙄🤪🤣. So it’s really quite a happy drama with nice posh settings…..

And I’m quite impressed by ZJM’s acting… especially that scene in the hospital where she was scolding her dad… great performance there…

But if SoM is really worth 8.5, then I think LFY should at least be ard 9.2…..
