And I found myself speeding last episode on the Tian’s reunion part as I couldn't care less. I just want to see that whole family (including the daughter) humiliated once and for all 🗡️⚔️🤺🔪😤
It suffers from a lack of cohesion, as if the screenwriter suddenly came up with ideas trying to create a great story, but it's actually a bit laughable.
His death was premeditated, had no impact on the narrative, and part of the audience didn't even care. I think…
Aye! I would have liked the screenwriters to have delved a little deeper into that friendship that went from political allies to a friendship between two men in love with the same woman, which is really difficult.

Of course his death had a big impact in the drama, otherwise, we wouldn't be talking about him right now. For me, he's the character who defines this drama. I missed him in every episode he wasn't in, and I hated Xue for trying to enter a wounded heart that he had already given unconditionally.

he spends much of the story being misunderstood, controlled, or underestimated. So even though he doesn’t get a peaceful or happy ending, there’s still a form of personal victory in proving he was more loyal, capable, and human than his father believed.
I think too he was a very interesting and profound character. A complicated and tortured man that transmited a lot.

narratively speaking, Ye Xian was written as a tragic character from very early on. His ending didn’t feel like it was there just for shock value, but rather to bring closure to several of the series’ core themes: the consequences of ambition, emotional sacrifice, broken loyalties, and the impossibility of escaping the fate he helped create himself.
His death also gave more emotional weight to the protagonists’ ending. If everyone had gotten a happy ending, the story would’ve lost some of the bittersweet, mature tone that the series carried almost all the way through.
And honestly, the key point is that Ye Xian never truly found peace or full redemption. The script kept slowly pushing him toward an inevitable ending. As viewers, we almost feel like his fate had been written long before it actually happened.
Grandma - almost out
Uncle - almost out
Cousin - almost out
and all of that in less than 10 minutes 🤣
