I'm going to give a somewhat controversial opinion on this drama, but it's just my opinion. I don't know about you, but for me the real victim in this story is the husband.
His father-in-law took away the family jewels and turned him into a eunuch. I'm not a man, but I don't believe there's any greater harm one can inflict on them. I'll set the inheritance issue aside, because if he had stayed normal he would have gotten the inheritance without any problem, so to me that's a non-issue. The wife could have found out much later and decided to divorce or not, it's really relative. Especially since if their relationship had stayed strong, she probably would have stayed.
In the current situation, the husband can no longer satisfy his wife and has to resign himself to letting her sleep with another man, choosing a trusted friend. Not just anyone, but a close friend.
Careful, I'm not saying he's right. But is his wife innocent? When she saw that her husband was acting strange, she didn't even try to dig deeper. The first guy who whispers sweet nothings to her, she caves. Her husband didn't force her to have an affair, so really the only one who should feel betrayed is him!!! If she truly couldn't stand her husband anymore, she could have divorced him. Given how much her father hates her husband, he would have gladly helped her.
The other thing that bothers me is that she really thinks she's the victim in this story. It's easier for her because the fact that it was her husband who paid the guy removes her guilt toward him.
Under the hypothesis where he had told her about the attack, she would have felt so guilty that even if the guy told her to go fetch the moon, she'd already be in space.
But no, there she is playing Romeo and Juliet. If I were her husband and my father-in-law did that to me, I probably would have emotionally tortured her to death.
The friend isn't any better either. I don't even want to talk about him because he's not interesting, since it was never really up to him anyway.
I think this drama tried to justify the wife's infidelity and downplay the husband's physical and emotional wounds. I find that unfortunate because it's a delicate theme that could have been presented with much more depth. Still, kudos to the actors.
I watched it in one sitting because it was so good. I really like that we have a charismatic female lead. She's smart, dominant, and soft when she needs to be. I love the relationships she has with the different leads. There's no ambiguity left with the side characters, which is nice.
The only thing is they glorified her relationship with the crown prince a bit too much, in the sense that he was the only one sacrificing himself. At first it's cool and all, but after a while it becomes more painful to watch. I don't know who said otherwise, but one-sided love isn't pretty to watch. Especially since there were clearly moments where you could tell she was already in love, but she kept reminding him that she didn't love him. At some point it felt less like a plot beat and more like a personal reminder to herself. But overall it was good.
Also, I wish they'd explained the ending more. Yes, there's a special episode that skims over it but doesn't really give details (I'm avoiding spoilers, those who finished the drama will understand).

Viewers couldn't care less about politics or anyone's opinions on the matter when they sit down to watch a drama. They want to escape. They want to relax. I have observed that in every cdrama the women is always right even when she isn't and the ML will always be the one asking for forgiveness even when he is being wrong. This drama is a great exemple. She was doing everything she wanted and didn't follow the rules and he was the one who had to suffer the consequences of her actions from start to finish. What couldn't she understand in " mind your business" ? She was self rightious. Yes, she suffered, but i'm sorry girl you did see that coming.
Anyway i wasn't supprise by the plot. I expected it, nothing new
I don't know why this has such a low review. I don't only recommand but i hope you can learn from it. This drama deserve an oscar (real one). We should forever be grateful to be born into peace. Life is hard, but at least we are alive and have people who care about us. Let's grow old and healthy.
This was great but the ending was too open and made me feel like a season 2 was needed. The drama was really good. I knew from the start what kind of plot twist we will have, so no suprised. I just regret that we didn't get a masterclass plan revenge but a banal plan at the end to assure victory. Luck was on his side that's all. I still greatly recommand !!
I just have one thing to say : "well done !". Great storyline, great plot, great acting ( even the supporting actors were on point), Great chemistry between the leads. I need more of this kind of story. This was a refreshing enemies to lovers story with no nonsense and hysteric female lead. She was stubborn but she was well educated !!! She knew how to be a wife, she knew how to say sorry and she knew when to set boundaries. Most of the time, those female lead are going everywere looking for trouble and the male lead have to come and clean up. I couldn't help but feel like they were give a bad representation of women.
Anyway this drama will be recorded as a masterpiece.
it was overall a good drama. I will just say that i had really high expectations for this drama but even if i enjoy watching it, the drama didn't hit hard enough for me to say " oh , it deserve to be a classic".
I believe the FL mother was carrying this drama alone like the first part was so intense because of her. The drama could have end there and was dragged with a vengence.
The moral of this drama is " Young people should act like young people and not meddle in old generation feud because they can't cope with it".
She was late to understand and had to live with that karma. She succeed in her revenge only because the old generation was prepare for everything. She herself couldn't even secure a single evidence.
This drama was good. It has a good plot with a very well structured ending. Nowdays, those producers like to do open ending which are really confusing or bad ending to make you distress,but forget that we are suppose to enjoy it as much as the drama ( even if it is a sad ending at least make it so that we understand the pro and corns).
Now about "The Rebel princess", the title and the drama have nothing in common. She was not a figure of women emancipation, a fighter or a deviant. She was a just a princess but a very very proud and courageous princess.
I didn't like the fact that every man in this drama was in love with the female lead but I feel bad for her because all those men use her as justification for their actions.

I feel like this drama was dragged to the point of no return. Everyone in this drama is crazy and don't deserve to be respected. They are always talking about morals, honor, justice, fairness will all they is repeating the same mistake again and again. Parents drag their children in their mistake and children are so oppress that they can only fall deeper. At the end of the day everyone in this drama was obssessed by power. There is no right or wrong in a war only a winner and a loser. But that itself is wrong because the wrong is in the war itself. If i was in this drama i will probably be labelled as a tyrant, killing people like insect because they complain to much. If a was a charmer like the prince i would just go and live my life in a seclude place with the women i love or another dimension and let the other fight as much as they want.
