"I have to agree that I believe their “ship” has come it’s fruition… especially when it comes to BL’s. I feel they are too old to play college students and their chemistry is so solid that they could realistically play a married gay couple with ease. Now that’s a drama I would sign up for!"
I think that could be something for many BLs to focus on. The everyday life of an older married gay pairing, like Japan's successful "What Did You Eat Yesterday" trilogy series. What happens after they get together? How do they go about sharing their lives together?
That could be something for these writers to get interested in!
This past weekend, BL Twitter had this funny meme about "You are a BL Fan if...." and this new series first episode had almost every trope that you could find in other older, and sadly current BLs.
One of the MLs randomly strumming a guitar. Those horrible background sounds. Squek! Blip! Bloop! The Engineer group walking slowly together in a single line.
They seriously couldn't cast younger actors for the flashback high school scenes?!
It's one thing to ask the audience to stretch our imaginations and accept that Kimmon's supposedly portraying a 22 year old college senior, but to have him in those blue shorts?! 😃 😀 😄
I will pass on this one, and continue with "City Of Stars".
They made sure to fit in as much product placement ads in between the awkward group scenes, and the foot/sex scenes.
It's nice to see that Dew and Tor are comfortable in being able to showcase the mutual love, need, and desire that Him and Nail have for one another, but the script was really lacking.
what the literal fuck did I just watch? what was that episode? damn man! I really loved this in the beginning
Yup. For me, it's clear that the director just lost any interest in the overall production with each new episode. I hope that the actors got paid, because they can only do so much with subpar material in the script.
Night is constantly running from what and who he wants. He's lucky that he has Namwan and Dream still wanting to be apart of his life, because they both have taken his feelings into consideration over their own.
The whole thing about Night never ever mentioning about his older brother Day to Dream is absolutely absurd. Not one of their teachers in high school never talked about Night's older brother? Especially since Night was some mediocre student, during their high school years. Night's father never spoke about Day in front of Dream?
Brilliant. I am a total stan for Japanese BLs. Wow. Just amazing. Abe Aran and Akutsu Nichika were brilliant as Akafuji and Aoyagi. Now, I want to read the anime.
How Akafuji realized that he fell in love with the actual real individual that is Aoyagi. Not the actor. Not the characters he portrays. Not the persona that is featured in magazine articles, interviews, and clips. The real person.
While Aoyagi opened up to knowing who he is, as a "regular" person.
The two managers just shaking their heads and cringing in the background during the “I’m not cute. I’m cool”…
I love that both of the managers aren't trying to discourage Akafuji and Aoyama from being close. Murasaki's worried that Akafuji might get rejected, be heartbroken and not be able to do his best throughout the rest of the series production. While Oshima feels like Aoyama will come out of his self-inclosed shell, and blossom with Akafuji's encouragement, focus, and attention towards him.
Japan has truly given me delightfully interesting BLs throughout 2023.
Well, I'm ok with unrequited love but not ok with someone just refusing to read between the lines. The friendship…
It is troublesome to me that Namwan is purposely refusing to see how Night hasn't at all demonstrated any physical/sexual attraction towards her, while she's still using her "friendship" connection with Dream to try and "help" her to get closer to him. Even Dream's friends, Zone and Khun are advising him to put his own interests first before anyone else.
I guess we're supposed to feel for Namwan, but I don't. She clearly knows that Night doesn’t see her as anything more than just a very good friend.
When Kenji told Shiro that he didn't want to be adopted (like the older male couple from the previous season), due to hoping that some day, in their lifetime, that he would be his husband, that's when I started to cry. Shiro, ever the practical person, needs to be sure that Kenji's, his love is taken care of financially, because Japan still doesn’t legally allow same sex marriages.
Those non-Thai high school uniforms are an interesting touch. I have pondered the question myself. In fact, this…
It's just too sad that with this Thai BL, they cannot seem to be able to recreate the same OTT humor that works in most Japanese BLs. I can see what the director, and screenwriters were attempting to do in this adaption of the novel, but they sadly went overboard with everything.
Fire's Mom is just too much. How is her of age son supposed to show her that he's an adult, when she's constantly controlling and scolding him as if he's still a 10 year old naughty child?!
A simple and pleasant series that feels like a mini-series stretched out to 6 episodes. Overall, I thought the…
"My biggest BL pet peeve since my very first BL, Together With Me, has been the female side character who knows the leads like each other, but latches on to one of the guys ensuring their romance will be delayed."
I will never quite understand why that particular plot point continues to be used in many BLs. It usually ends up making many viewers annoyed with those characters, for not being able to recognize things going on around them.
It was a plot point in the Japanese BL, "Naked Dining". The female character was a part of the other male lead's office work environment. She was an older, working woman based in Tokyo. She could clearly see, that he was spending his weekends, going back to another city to spend quality time with someone else. It annoyed me.
I just love how the second season shows just how far Shiro has become more sure and secure in himself, his love for Kenji, and his plans for their future together as a couple.
Seeing how excited Tominaga and her adorable husband were in finally being able to meet Shiro's Kenji in person was so wonderful.
They wanted to meet the man that Shiro talks about with such love, care and devotion.
Wataru not understanding Tennis terminology, because "love shouldn't equal zero" is just so him.
I am going to miss this series and these characters.
This series is supposed to bring to the forefront and make everyone aware of all the horrible things that happen…
"This series is supposed to bring to the forefront and make everyone aware of all the horrible things that happen in the BL Industry to the actors, staff, agency executives, managers etc if you were watching it as a light entertainment BL program you have lost the whole reason for its creation."
I think that War Of Y was ahead of its time, and revealed things that many viewers really didn't want to see, regarding their reasons in watching these series.
Look at all of the stuff that has happened within the Thai BL/GL genre since the series finale of WoY back in December 2022!
It's not that I want Ohm to couple up with Nanon again, but tbh not talking in public doesn't always mean they…
I don't care about the number of followers. All this proves, is that there is some emotional disconnect that these loons are looking for in these not real relationships with these BL pairings, that they cannot find in their own lives.

The Freen and Seng saga.
The Mew fallout.
