Ridiculous... funny... cringeworthy... over-the-top.. a mixture of them all... plus it's educational (learning the history of and how to make certain cocktails). Whatever, it was an entertaining diversion that didn't outlast its welcome of just two episodes. It was enough.

Title Between Us
Whereas the other two couples (Dean and Pharm, Bee and Prince) have declared their love for each other (Tul still has to get over his identity problem with Waan first), neither Win nor Team are yet capable of committing themselves to each other though for all intents and purposes they both truly are in love. Everyone knows this except them, which is why they are always put together with the sleeping arrangements. This is really being drawn out for maximum dramatic effect to the point of exasperation, so the way things are going, I think they'll officially become boyfriends in the last moments of the next episode or during the final episode. Most viewers appear to be getting up fed up with the slowness and repetitiveness of their actions and I can't blame them. Also, its slight relationship to UWMA has nothing of the angst Dean and Pharm had in that show and leaves out what they're going through entirely, which is fair enough - it would just be a distraction. That leaves Bee and Prince and I'm finding the slightly dorky but adorable Bee is my favourite character.

It appears that Noey has given up on Pam and turned his attention to Thi. Given that Noey enthralls Thi and Thi has some weird attraction to Noey, it's not a surprising turn of events.

In the end credits, only Noey and another boy are dancing while the rest of the class sits on the floor watching them, then applaud after they finish. Hmm.

Another disjointed, hard to follow gay Chinese movie with a tragic ending. 6.5 from me.

At least the misunderstanding has been cleared up, of Muyeong thinking Shin has a relationship with his editor, but now both of them know they really like each other. He also should have realised that she approves of them being together. That leaves Seok, Muyeong's friend who - plot twist - manages to get hit by a car while on a pedestrian crossing, so naturally Muyeong rushes to his side where he first finds that Seok has broken up with his fiance because of him. If Seok thinks he has a hope of becoming Muyeong's boyfriend, he's sadly mistaken and should be intelligent enough not to entertain such an idea. Throughout, it's been nothing but confusion and misunderstanding between the various characters which sort of becomes tedious after a while. With one episode left, it doesn't leave much time for Shin and Muyeong to become a couple and share happy moments - at least, I hope they will.

(Ep. 5) The dynamic between Thi and Noey is different, to say the least, but it works. Very gradually, Thi is coming out of his shell and not being so dorky or cowering frequently but he's still indecisive while Noey has sensed that Thi is attracted to him and in his own narcissistic way is coming on to Thi rather gently despite his bully image and ostensibly liking Pam (who doesn't like him, so that will go nowhere). There's also an element of vanity in Noey changing Thi's hairstyle to imitate his (but it only lasted for one scene). All up, it's a most agreeable series, light on plot and easy on the eyes, a light-hearted and fairly mindless interlude that keeps one smiling.

(Ep. 6) If only Muyeong would ask Shin about the girl who he thinks is his girlfriend, then Shin would be able to tell him she's his editor and then they could move on. How much longer can this state affairs go on? It's just irritating.

(Ep. 5) I'm sure that the writers are trying to keep the confusion that exists between Shin and Muyeong going for as long as possible, basically because neither of them will speak their mind and open up about what they're really thinking or feeling about each other. At this point, Muyeong doesn't realise that Shin is meeting with his editor and erroneously thinks she is his girlfriend. Muyong's friend by the end of the episode only complicates matters. It's manhwa, so it is what it is.

Title Ai Long Nhai
Not a great series by any stretch of the imagination, it didn't have much of a plot and the dialogue merely kept things alive, but I liked it none the less, mostly because Ai and Nhai were so adorable together and one could sense the love between them was real and will be everlasting. They were very open about it and their families were fully supportive of them. The writers and producers wanted a fairly light and fluffy romcom and that's exactly what they gave us. I'm not complaining. It was escapism and I'm all for it.

Title Between Us
(Ep. 6) Slowish, but the story is moving along. Win and Team are providing the real drama, Win having to get over his issues before he can say he's in love with Team, but it's the side couples who are adding to the interest. I find Bee quite adorable and I think his infatuation with Prince is something even he finds surprising. Prince is going out of his way to spend time with Bee but he's still remaining aloof to a point. The potential for romance is strong. Tul and Waan are more problematic in a number of ways. They got to know each other as game partners and play while on the phone with each other and more recently, Waan has let himself confide in Tul who is a good listener, but Waan doesn't realise that Tul is T-Rex, his phone alias while Tul knows exactly who he's with. Tul is drawn to Waan and jumped at the chance to go back to his place, then to not only sleep in his bedroom but in his bed. Yacht, who plays Tul, came to prominence as Pond in Love by Chance (2018) in which he is very straight and where his over-the-top performance left an indelible impression in a good way. He has always played straight roles. Will this change here?

Finally, the side story (which is actually an ad for a soft drink brand) and allowed the episode to end with some light relief. It was actually funny haha. Team is drinking it with friends when Win suddenly shows up and gives him a peck on the cheek, shocking his friends and giving forth their humourous reactions. Perfectly acceptable in the context of the show but it's hard to imagine something similar if it was done in a Western ad.

I suppose the operative word for this series is bittersweet. It had an unusual storyline but it was told intelligently, delicately and with great feeling. Considering the short life Koichi had, it is something of a blessing that he found true love with Mitchan and they became each other's Number One. With Koichi's passing, we had Mitchan's perspective followed by Koichi's perspective, leaving us at least with moments when they experienced happiness together. I am satisfied.

(Ep. 1) This is better than I expected it would be and has an original and intriguing storyline, if a somewhat improbable one - a reverse parallel universe, whatever that is, where one person's first meeting (Mum) is with the other person's last meeting (Dew), meaning they knew that person already. They are played by Ohm and Fluke respectively who came to prominence in the tearjerking UWMA and later appeared in Oh! My Sunshine Night. Ohm has a reputation for being a bit expressionless and wooden in his acting though I still think he did a commendable job in both those series, and Fluke is remarkable for the way he can produce tears frequently and instantly. Here, Ohm is far more lively in every way which the part calls for and he rises to the occasion. As in so many BL series, a womaniser with no interest in men (Mum) suddenly turns gay with Dew, but he's not that convincing: in his scenes with women, he never kisses them on the lips and remains fully clothed, yet when he's with Dew, he allows him to kiss him repeatedly and very soon they are naked. Their lovemaking over, Dew turns to Mum and says in an urgent tone, "I love you," then suddenly they're confronted by someone who has managed to enter Mum's apartment and shoot Dew who appeared to know that it was about to happen. Realistically, wouldn't the door to the apartment have been locked? We just have to go with the flow as to how the story is presented. Nevertheless, I'll keep watching.

Title Ai Long Nhai
How about that: a penultimate episode without a major disaster and not ending with a cliffhanger. Regarding what others have said, the series may be a little lacklustre, doesn't require many brain cells to understand the plotline (not that there is much of one anyway) and is cute, fluffy and unproblematic, so it basically relies on the appeal of the two main characters, Ai and Nhai, which they have in spades. Their friends, now three side couples, are not romantically involved with each other and don't appear they will be, though I was hoping that Ton and Chon (who only appeared in the previous episode and is quite cute) might, but given Ton just broke up with his girlfriend of 8 years and sworn himself to chastity for the time being, that is unlikely. I'm just going with the flow and expect it to wind up in a way that keeps us all smiling.

Ep. 8 is the best episode so far, the highlight being the love scene with Lom and Tatch, so beautifully gentle and romantic. It gave me pause to think that those two boys probably didn't even know each other before the series began yet the chemistry between them is very high as can be seen by the way they look at each other and the ease with which they kiss and make love to each other. It's not only enjoyable for them but an enviable way to make a living. Lucky for some.

Just saw the second episode and it really is a most delightful series. Seon Ho is completely oblivious to the fact that Mu Yeong is gay and thinks he's cute but unfortunately straight. Never mind that Mu Yeong is strikingly gorgeous, even if his demeanour is a little on the severe side. How long our artist will remain straight is yet to be seen considering that Seon Ho's heart was pounding because of him in the first episode. He just has to loosen up and go with his feelings...
