Just finished ep14 and gotta say revolutionary songs make for a much better background than the 2008 Olympics babble;) loved this version of 草原上升起不落的太阳 The young Ye Wenjie story watches a bit like an old-school romance. I'm enjoying it. The editing is still random af though. Engaging threads be cut off with long fillers😑 Tbh I'm still waiting for sth to awe me… Cool uncle Shi Qiang remains the shining gem of this series😄

same! I rewatch it often. it just is really great and I really don't mind the quality and acting infact, Mai Ding's…
Instant mood improver these two<3 Good to know I'm not the only one that keeps coming back time and again. Can't resist their charm:))

Hahaha i found Song Yi pretty irritating to be frank. Personal opinion 😁
On second thought, I do agree with you. She could've interpreted the role better. Maybe they forgot to pay the guys in editing and they got revenge via a hundred Erlangs;)

I have the same impression. They are over-explaining the hard science with too many analogies. And as @Megumi…
I'm not acknowledging hard truths on Mondays;P

I liked her in other roles. But this one.. it's like the character was designed to be annoying. But to be fair, that's how I feel about a lot of female characters in c-dramaland:D

I'd say scientists can be on the more emotionless side in general, so fits for me, especially when you are dealing…
Looks like no one here would miss the reporter lol. I'm the opposite, I rarely like faithful book adaptations. To me these are incompatible media. As Megumi-H said, when we read books we can set our own pace and tone. With dramas it's either hit or miss:/

Some alien monster smut, I mean romance… sure would've livened things up a little 😆

Oh yes the reporter lol. Typical. She doesn't annoy me as much, because I've grown immune:) Just rolled my eyes when she showed up.

I have the same feeling when I first watched it. Kept wondering why the drag and felt that the story can be told…
So true about Wang Miao. You'd expect him to be a bit more analytical in that situation. I wanted to write earlier that the tone could've been set better - it's so dramatic from the start before anything much happened. But then I thought maybe that's too much complaining in one comment;)
I like Shi Qiang too! But that's predictable of me - I'm always drawn to the troublemakers lol. Ye Wenjie - I'm a little put off by her overly stoic demeanour but I liked how they introduced her. She's a pretty intriguing character on the whole. Shen Yufei though… I think they made her too cryptic - to the point of being uninteresting. She's had a lot of screen time but when I think about her, I basically draw a blank. OTOH Pan Han just showed up for two short scenes and I already have a good read on him.

Again Ben throwing Nueng under the bus front of his military homophobic father was not bad it's only looking out…
I did read it:) I'll reserve my comments since you don't wish to talk further. Anyway it's clear we're looking at it from two different perspectives, so agree to disagree.

On I Told Sunset about You Feb 2, 2023
At first I thought this story was set 10+ years in the past. I mean why would anyone torture themselves by practicing characters on paper when godsends like Skritter exist?! This is going to give me flashback nightmares, along with looking up words in paper dictionaries;) I admit it's way more cinematic though... that 'shangxin' scene on the boat was quite beautiful.
I'm not surprised by all the raving comments. Even on ep2 this looks well-made and heartfelt. My only problem is that Teh reminds me a bit too much of my younger self - getting all moody and possessive over my best friend, so it's getting a little uncomfortable to watch…😬

I skimmed the comments here and it looks like the reception has been overwhelmingly positive. But for me this series progresses so slowly, I struggle to keep engaged. I'm mid episode 8 (where it finally picks up pace) and just thought to myself that they really could've told this story in half the time. At first I liked that it's Wang Miao-centric so we could walk the path of discovery with him:) But by now, I think a more layered narration with multiple povs and faster reveals would've worked better. I guess I just had high expectations of this being more of an intense, immersive brain-teaser and feel a bit let down. Or maybe 30 eps is just overkill..

Btw I'm a little creeped out by Ye Wenjie and Shen Yufei who haven't shown a single human emotion on their faces yet… The acting in general feels a little unnatural in places.

I actually dropped this last week but got curious and came to read new comments:) I'm really surprised with your take on that scene, because imo it was Nueng who fucked up first admitting the truth at the worst time and place possible. I guess he, with his doting and openly affectionate parents, couldn't see that Ben froze up in fear of his father? Well, I think if he ever had a thought in his head for anyone other than himself, he should've seen that - read the room and assessed Ben's comfort level with the situation, then diffused it by saying it was a prank/dare or sth. Instead, he made it worse. Did he really have to make a stand then and there?! Of course, Ben shouldn't have said anything and he's rightfully feeling guilty for that. But as someone who's lived much too long with a volatile parent, I can empathize with willing to say just about anything to get out of such a confrontation. Fortunately, I had a brother who cared and would throw me a lifeline when I was quite literally scared out of my wits. The key word here is care - which I don't think Nueng did enough for Ben.

Haha! I agree with most of your points. I was too lazy to write it out myself. I hope you stick it out to the end! I'd so read your take on this roadkill of a romance every week;)
I got completely turned-off by Palm getting even more deferential in this informal setting. I could somewhat rationalize it before as him wanting to put up walls between them in that house/school environment. But in this ep his behaviour made me uber-uncomfortable. With Nueng, I agree that the writers completely lost their way ...by a hundred self-absorbed, entitled miles;)

They basically promoted series as Mafia family drama and they said that the series will be around the young generation…
Same:) I liked the beginning but by now I've lost all interest. Really have no idea where they're going with this story. I don't like the leads acting, but I do notice their charm;) Let's hope they get better written characters in their future projects.

If my life was in danger, my dad was murdered in cold blood, and my mom got shot and was in a comma ...I neither would go on vacation, ekhm, I mean into 'hiding' with my crush, nor would I sit in a corner and weep. I'd monetize anything I owned and hired a private army and an army of investigators to find me a proof on who was behind it. Then I'd get a nice supply of drugs and sit my and Palm's asses next to my mom's bed 24/7 to make sure no suspicious person with a suspicious syringe wanders in. No sorry, the first thing I'd actually do is fire Palm's dad since he's awfully incompetent at his job;)
Ok, I'm half joking but I really would like for Nueng to become a little less self-absorbed and clueless, and do some hard thinking about the situation he's in.
Sorry, I'm with SKK 123 on this. Going by psychology and storytelling logic this should've been a tense, dramatic point for the story - no matter if the accent is to be on family drama or action.
Btw you're assuming the mother is safe for now because the uncle said so? That same uncle that Nueng believes ordered the hit for them??
