5.9 ???? you guys hate it that much??? lmao I havent watched it yet but daaaaaamn
Ahoy:) I watched it and had fun! It does feel like a major creative misunderstanding - the kind of mess that happens when the producers and directors have no clear idea/feel for what they want their work to be. It has hilariously over-the-top moments that'll make you lol, except the comedy seems 100% unintentional… which totally works for me - I'd probably hate it if it was scripted (with those sound effects x_x). I hope they go even more overboard with the mafia stuff - apparently in the book the guy keeps bengal tigers as some killer pets:D Poor acting/chemistry is the biggest flaw by a wide margin. All the scenes with them in one frame so far have been unintentional hilarity - but if it doesn't improve it's gonna turn into a bad joke soon. Anyway, so far it's been a good mood improver;)
Lol 5.8 that's brutal for MDL:) I personally had a lot of fun watching the 2nd ep but I get the outpouring of disappointment. Since the whole premise of this show is built on the idea that these two have life-changing level of sexual compatibility - sizzling on-screen chemistry should've been top priority. Taking that premise and ending up with every scene of them together so far turning into comedy gold, is an art! …of incompetence. Imo both actors more or less fit their roles, they just don't fit each other.
I miss Long ge<3 I've been watching any clips of his I could find online, but there aren't many… Please share if you find a good one:)
From the perspective of almost a month after the finale, I'll say this story would've worked better in the miniseries format - with 3 seasons of 9 eps. Despite it ticking almost all of my fav boxes, I did feel slightly overwhelmed and tired around ep18. I think even a short break between seasons would've worked great for the audience to clear our minds and at the same time build the anticipation for what's to come - a win-win for everyone. The first climax could've been the ep8 boat incident, the second - a properly fleshed out demise of the most interesting among the drug dealers, and the third - the rest. With 3 more eps they could've given us a more detailed final arc, but also more breathing room between the intense/action parts. Still, I'm gonna keep my 9/10 rating, with that last 0.5 going solely to Long ge for being my fav character of the year hands down;)
In a BDSM relationship, you must discuss the dos and don'ts before doing ANYTHING, you must use a SAFE WORD and…
You seem to have made a lot of assumptions about these characters. How do you figure Kamol is a Dom? Because it looked to me like he just gets off on dealing out pain:D Come on, a hook-up with some sensation play does not constitute a bdsm or D/s relationship. I didn't see any indication that Kamol is in the lifestyle… Plus, I assume they didn't teleport into the bathrobes in that room and discussed on the way what was going to happen.
If this is on ao3 the first tag would be porn without plot
I wish there was porn! This sequel would at least have that going for it:D Did I skip all the good parts?!🙀 Cause I only saw kissing and some sensual touches.
Suffering is about right lol. No dragging down the corridor, but there's a sobbing scene of theirs in ep9 first…
I merrily skipped a lot, so there may be another one. But I wouldn't have blamed you if you made it more exciting in your mind - it's self preservation;))
Okaaaay I'm watching this at 1.25x speed not (only) because I want to skip ahead but because that IS the regular speed humans speak and move at…?!?!
Btw this is some triggering stuff for workplace bullying. I keep chanting for Type to leave that f*cking job already! Cause it just isn't worth it!! And I totally get people disappointed in how little development their relationship got in 7 years. They're like this delicate painted vase - on the outside full of romantic, pretty phrases and tender touches, but almost anything can make them fissure. The other couples mostly just weirded me out… OK, except Champ and doc, they're pretty fun.
Also, Tharn doesn't know how to hug!!! As someone addicted to strong, warm, all-encompassing hugs, if I asked my partners to hold me tight and they did that barely-embracing lackluster-patting thing… I'd channel my inner Type and kick them where it hurts!
Sadly, I agree with the general consensus, this is rather pointless…
OK, I'm gonna keep it short cause maybe you'll still want to finish the series and I don't like writing out major spoilers:) If you have more questions just send me a dm.
Liao has shown himself as a person who views people as tools and doesn't care about rules. But until late in the game it was not clear if his motivation was for good or not. In the end it turned out he took money from the drug dealers 5 years ago with his subordinates, and the whole 'night walker' plan was set up only so he could tie up loose ends and eliminate anyone who could know about his involvement. It ends with him arrested and in jail - but no further details.
Yu as it turned out was mostly motivated by guilt and self-interest. He killed his cop friend while undercover (under Liao) to get close to Cai Zhiming. But then got swayed by cash and let Cai go instead of handing him over. Then people who knew about these events forced or coerced him to do their bidding. He planned to run with the money, but in the end decided to sacrifice himself.
Dark had a miserable ending?! Perceptions really differ, cause I felt they went slightly against the core logic…
I totally get it about the last season - I also had a where tf are you going with this?! moment when they introduced that whole parallel universe;)) But the problem was they couldn't change anything about the past or present cause they were stuck in an infinite loop - so they only could get out or keep reliving it. I liked about the ending that they showed them as completely different people who made different choices out of the loop:)
Yes, couldn't agree more. Most of serious crime drama needs at least to be exact like this. Not because we allowming…
Dark had a miserable ending?! Perceptions really differ, cause I felt they went slightly against the core logic to give their viewers a happy ending:)) That one's in my top5 all-time favourites<3
Su Jingzhu a veteran undercover cop bumbles into what is obviously a tricky hostage situation like a love sick…
I truly get your frustration, cause it wouldn't have taken much to round up her arc in an empowering way. I realized maybe halfway that her and Xiang were too broken to be mended. But she could've left for a mission, worked with boss Lu, or got a promotion… If they ended the drama with his and her dreams side by side, choosing to go their separate ways to fight drugs - the ending would've been ten times as impactful. Alas! empowered FLs in cdramas seem to me like a dying breed. I'm ⅔ in 'Bloody Romance' and that one is supposed to be about a female assassin rising to power in a city of female assassins. Somehow that city is still ruled by a man and I can't help but feel her purpose just wasn't written as clearly as the other 2 mls. Lol it feels like 2nd fls get the better stories in a lot of dramas. As for Song Yi. I was reading some comments on douban and the feeling seems to be similar to ours - she did great but the writers didn't. Lol I even saw some desperate elaborate posts trying to explain how what she did wasn't stupidly ooc at all… So I'd say as an actress she still left a favourable impression:) I dropped it early but I still remember I liked her and her on-screen mother much better than the FLand her friend in Joy of Life. At least she's getting diverse roles:). Sorry for the rambling length of this reply, I've been hemorrhaging chattiness recently-.-

I don't mind, I'm a great fan of delayed gratification;) 61 eps is a lot though. I hope they speak 'contemporary' enough I won't need the subs... Lol Li Yifeng in the lead again..

Ooooh, that's it! I'm putting it on my CW list right away:D I just need a few days of rest, for my mental faculties to refresh after day breaker lol. Thank you so much for reminding me about this drama:* Insane Ying Zheng is just what I needed!!
Liang Long is great - can never tell what crazy thing he is gonna do next!
So true:D I love him! He's the most memorable character in the show for me. I think I'll sooner forget that this series existed than his bathrobe-wearing craziness;)

That's a high recommendation for Song Yi:) I'll try and remember that!
I haven't watched Sparrow but it's def on my list too! Mainly because I know Yin Zheng's there and he's my bias since Winter Begonia;) Thank you! I'll add it to my list so I don't forget about it again.

I know just idle thought:) But you know she might be less booked so it would've happened faster;)) at least this role still shown her as a capable actress I think - she's just not the lead.
Btw is Disguiser good? I like Republican dramas but every time I wanna start one I'm torn which should I choose - Disguiser, the rebel, fearless whispers, the red with Zhou Yiwei... And I end up watching none of them... They're all so long. May I ask which is your favourite from the bunch?

Maybe it's her that should come back from the dead in s2?! Let's say she surfaces 3 years later at the head of some golden circle cartel;) Could be a cool story. I think the actress totally has it in her to play a badass lead:))
