I just went from a total high after seeing A-xu on my screen, to a dissapointed slump after watching the ending.…
I agree with you:) I never doubted for a second that Lao Wen is gonna survive. I really didn't think the screenwriter would mess up the psychology of YBY's character for him to sentence A-xu to that same lonely fate he suffered. It's just that this last scene, with them sharing those loving looks and getting lost in each other, is one of the most striking visually and emotionally for me in the whole series. So I guess I just got momentarily frustrated that the new viewers won't get that emotional high right after ep36 like I did:)
I didn't finish it because I saw too many spoilers on insta and youtube that I no longer was too interested in…
Maybe just put it on hold for a bit and clutter your head with other things to blur your memory? To me, the most enjoyable part were the interactions, and the small, intimate moments between plot points.
I just went from a total high after seeing A-xu on my screen, to a dissapointed slump after watching the ending. I still think the lack of paywall may be the reason, even though it makes little sense at this point. But after that locked happy camp lld edit, people have been joking that things behind paywall don't exist. I really hope you're right though, and it's just negligence. To have WOH on Netflix without ep37, or to not have WOH on Netflix at all... That is the question;)
I am afraid that the production is trying to discreetly erase the happy ending. Now that it reaches wider, international…
Lol, I actually do agree with you. I just took a guess, seeing as this clip was locked on 4 sites already, that it may be some kind of "requirement". Don't ask me where's the logic in any of that, I wouldn't know:) Do you really think Netflix will attract such an audience? I'm not sure it will change much for my country, if they only add eng subs… I mean yt/Viki have subs in almost 20 languages by now. In any case, I still think that if someone has even a slight interest in this series and goes online, they'll bump into immortal WenZhou pretty quickly. I do hope to be pleasantly surprised on Friday, while mentally preparing for all the screenshots with horrible subs:D
Tbh it could be confusing to people and the description "It shows what could have happened after the last episode…
What? I protest that description! And I agree it's confusing. How is it a sequel? It's literally 3 mins cut off from ep36. Why not change the number of eps to 37 and put this one as special/epilogue like IMDB has?
I am afraid that the production is trying to discreetly erase the happy ending. Now that it reaches wider, international…
The official playlist on yt and Line TV also have ep37. I haven't really seen any moves from YK trying to restrict the widespread sharing or hide its existence so far. The whole narrative around the concert was pretty much built on this epilogue being the true ending. They even got those big WenZhou immortals figures at the venue. Honestly, that clip has been available on all major Chinese and intl sites (including youku) and all over social media since March. It's also easily searchable on Google. So, that paywall is more theoretical in my eyes:) Maybe Prime/Netflix won't include it simply because they don't allow additional payments? PS Episode 36 is also a happy ending;p
WWX is a misunderstood hero. When he experienced tragedy, he was already in his teens, and so his desire for revenge…
I've just realized I can no longer comment on drama!wwx, cause I have book!wwx so firmly stuck in my head. Another difference was that, there was no yin metal pieces in the book, so they were fighting only people, not puppets, during the sunshot campaign. I can't really put the whole of WRH's clan into the 'bad Wens' category. I mean, there's a line behind which you can no longer call yourself a victim in my eyes. You're right, LWJ did criticize WWX's methods as too bloody, while the sects, (the lovely sort that they are;)) didn't care. Still, WKX at least gave people a chance to back down for the most part, while WWX's methods were basically the equivalent of carpet bombing his opponents. I really liked the book btw:)
Now, WKX's revenge I'm totally fine with. I'm not a very vengeful person irl ...at all. For some reason, I've always loved those Count of Monte Cristo-style revenge plots, where you give people enough rope to hang themselves with, and just stay back and watch the show. But then, I really enjoy all the crackpots, misfits and freaks in the cinema:) So, I guess WKX just fell into my favourites box. Thank you for the discussion:)
WWX is a misunderstood hero. When he experienced tragedy, he was already in his teens, and so his desire for revenge…
Oops did I mix up the book with the series? It's been a few months. I don't think WWX is evil at heart, but I also don't think he's an innocent victim:) During the war he raised an army of dead Wens, who then went on to kill their comrades/families. That's why everyone was so terrified of him and ready to turn against him later. Also in the book there's no second flutist, so it's WWX that loses control.
I forgot WKX was such a happy puppy that night:) Grrrr, why even the smallest things make me want to go rewatch. I guess, I just didn't see this as part of his true nature. I thought most people coming from that hellhole would've had zero compassion to spare for the greedy 'heroes' offing each other. I also saw a lot of desperation in his face during that conference, but maybe I just talked myself into it... I'm pretty sure though that he partly channeled the crazy for effect:)

I actually thought TU messed up the psychology of that character. I never bought that 'my conscience is clear' WWX. Cause did he or did he not mass kill all those Wens? When I read the book later, I was like ...yeah this makes much more sense:) I love the Wen lunatic persona:D I didn't get the feeling that he delighted in the deaths and chaos though. More like, he got totally desensitised growing up in that kill-or-be-killed environment. I really liked that he didn't have an immediate change of heart upon meeting A-xu, but was still dead set on his plans until he started to unravel at that uncle Long's story halfway through. Though I wish badass guigu chief was given more screen time, WKX's self-doubt and self-hate later on is what really struck my heartstrings:)
I wasn't aware and am really surprised. However, I remember thinking when I joined in March that the ToS for this…
My bad, my bad. What I meant was that the guidelines are weirdly specific in these three cases, but then unclear as to the rest. So that pretty much read to me as - we want your content, but only the 'right' one for us. Which I still think is their right, cause that articles section seems to be highlighted/promoted on this page? I mean, I actually thought at first that the articles were written by staff. I do understand your frustration, but personally as long as the ToS don't explicitly forbid discussing BL in the comments, reviews, etc., I can just easily ignore that moderated content space. Lol, I don't think they'd ever admit to not being LGBT friendly. I don't know why those accounts were banned, maybe someone reported them. At least on this page so far, I haven't seen anyone complaining about any restrictions on their words. As for the ratings, I've pretty much decided they're bogus at this point. I randomly checked other shows that have the same rating as WOH, cause the numbers just didn't make sense to me. All but one Thai BL got noticeably lower numbers. I mean this is more than just adjusting for weighted average. They're tweaking the scores, which makes it another part of this page that I'm ignoring:)
Unrelated to Word of Honor, but I posted this on another BL adaptation page, and was curious to know how the residents…
I wasn't aware and am really surprised. However, I remember thinking when I joined in March that the ToS for this page were a bit vague. I'm not really interested in the articles, but I read the guidelines and, yeah, they're unclear. Not publishing 'just anything' sounds reasonable ...and also really ambiguous:) But, if what you say is true and they give green light to mature and potentially triggering topics, while banning all write-ups on same-sex relationships, then it does send a rather ugly message. Ultimately, it's their right, like it's mine to avoid that section. I'm sure they profiled their users, so maybe this is just a reflection of the interests of their core user base... PS That stalker's guide thing? If it's a joke, then it's in poor taste.
GJ's clip with ZZH's new song for 520 event? Mango, are you sober?? XD
Nope, they've been heavily toasting with Youku to JunZhe love:D The song is one thing, but adding those oversized subtitles so no one misses a word, and that jumping heart at the line that talks about heart burning up and losing focus?! Maybe it's another endless cycle of crazy with networks and fans feeding off each other;)
Mixed feelings about this one. It was more a popularity contest than a competition. The singers were not given any tasks/challenges, they just chose what they wanted and sang what they liked week after week. Those poor critics just sat there and kept repeating that everyone was great:) Of course they're all great, they're proffesionals! If you can't judge how they dealt with a task given to them, then it really just boils down to which singer suits your music taste best. So I ended up skipping a lot of performances. Even though Huo Zun was amazing as always (total bias there;)), I gotta say Hua Chenyu outperformed them all:) Great artist!
Following JunZhe news is better than any soap opera. It's become my morning guilty pleasure. Do you think post-WOH frenzy will get it's own Wikipedia page one of these days?;) Anyway, keeping with the trend - love you bros!

Remind me...have I watched it already? Damn my short memory;)
