Same! The amount of anticipation I felt when they showed him entering the room with the ice-cream… For sure they could've given us better than a gap in the narrative.

Maybe or maybe because the girl acted kinda provocatively in that scene. I mean I knew it would be censored, but it could've been easily rewritten to fit the guidelines and still be a good scene. The way it cut off without them talking just felt very anticlimactic to me.

From what I remember, he tricked her into talking by first ignoring her, then treating her like an incapable child and a victim. She couldn't stand it because she despised victims and wanted to show off. The more shocked he acted at her words, the more eagerly she revealed sordid details about the crimes. Maybe it wasn't a key scene but very memorable and had great cinematic potential;)

The collective trauma from that honey on carpet in this thread😂 Reminds me of when Unforgotten Night dropped and half the comments were about a running tap in the background. I somehow never notice these things. What would I do without you guys on mdl bringing it to my attention<3

No, because it was a key scene in the book. If you just watch the drama, it probably won't be too noticeable. But for me, it also felt very disappointing to see that scene omitted from the case.

They couldn't just let him go because that young guy said he saw his face earlier and threatened to rat Cui out if he didn't help him solve the problem. He was definitely stupid to let the bank guy see HIS face. Hiding behind that orange plastic bowl was too ridiculous=D

I've also seen 2 episodes:) the way I understood it is he knows what's the best way forward but he's unwilling to do it because of moral hangups, so he's wasting time trying to come up with a choice he can stomach. He's definitely stupid and slow in social situations. I mean if he was a genius, he'd probably be more successful in life. I'm assuming him overthinking stuff is gonna bring endless trouble in the drama. I find him amusing so far, especially the way he talks with his brother and I like that he's unpredictable, seesawing between smart and dumb. Def got me curious enough to continue.

I don't know how many times I laughed out loud watching this episode. Not because it was unintentionally funny but because I was genuinely amused!! I dare anyone not to start giggling at some of Akin’s reactions. Hot and uplifting - a perfect combo for Spring;)

This is fun, kinda wacky. Ngl I was helplessly drawn in by Akin’s cuteness. Jin is giving off psycho vibes but that sort of makes it more interesting. I really hate his styling though. My forehead was itching just looking at those bangs.

They really went for broke on the angst/melodrama front in the finale. I don't even know what to call that last battle scene, other than some weird visual fetish. Still, a crazy awesome emotional drama that I see myself rewatching one day<3

This drama is not safe to watch in public. I just got weird looks for showing two middle fingers to my screen, specially reserved for Shen Yurong and his stupid face in front of the prison in ep33. He totally deserved it for that bs plan.

Nope, it's only half the show. I was also confused and had to switch to netflix for the rest. There's also apparently a bonus ep which Netflix doesn't have, so I'll have to go looking again for that one🙄

The short of it is BL adaptations have been blacklisted in China since policy change in 2021 and it doesn't look like it will change anytime soon. When in Jan 2023 ‘A League of Noblemen’ aired successfully people were hoping maybe things were changing. That drama isn't based on a BL novel but was always included in the big wave of projects that came after the success of the Untamed. Then shortly after that drama ended Youku aired 8 episodes of jitd with zero promotion and that was that. There is a lot of speculation about what happened but nothing was officially confirmed. Maybe they wanted to test the waters. There were also some controversies and disputes with the production. But since no BL adaptation has aired normally in China in the last two years, I'd say it was the ban. As to why it was further censored, my guess is they wanted to kill any CP feeling so it's less likely to blow up and start trending in China🤷

Did I just watch Duke Su pouting because A-Li is partying without him in ep 25? Awww, their flirting is adorable. I gotta agree with her, his sulking face is indeed very charming😁

18 episodes in and this is addictive. I started it randomly on a train a couple of days ago and have been losing sleep since. Face-slapping novels are my guilty pleasure but I have a much lower tolerance for melodrama on screen, so I usually abandon such dramas at the first hint of high-pitched wailing;) I feel like this one has the right balance of everything - it's emotionally engaging without crossing into ridiculous or depressing. I also think it's quite romantic in both visuals and dialogue but that's coming from someone who doesn't watch romance dramas. Plus, it's fast paced, well-acted and doesn't sacrifice logic (too much;)) for more spectacular face-slapping. Anyway, I'm super excited to continue.

I guess I'm okay, because I no longer get emotionally involved in c-dramaland. If I worried about every great scene that was cut from my favourite dramas, my hair would be totally white by now. Plus, I still hope that the production crew retained some power and fought to keep this as close to the original for us as they could.
