Yeah, I know that Bai Jue gave the talk to "prepare" Yuanqi in the event of his death. Still, I feel unsatisfied.

She and her perfect husband is the title. I am also looking forward to that. The trailer looks pretty interesting

I really love the bromance between Bai Jue, Tian Qi, and Zhi Yang. I think they share such deep brotherly relationship, since they live for so long and practically only have each other. Ep 1-16 are very beautiful. I find myself repeating those early episodes.

FIYS is in my watch list. I will watch it after I get over ALP fever.
By the way, I checked you profile page. I find that you have not put ALP in your watch list?!

I had high hope that those scenes would lead to Yuanqi sadness after Bai Jue death. The novel writes that Yuanqi cried day and night. But the drama showed nothing ....

I think we are who the most bitter about ep 49 in this forum, hahahahaha. Glad to find someone to share my frustration.

That father-son reconciliation is a blessing indeed. It shows that the screenwriter is not inept but someone with enough skill to know what the viewer want to see the most. Unfortunately, it seems ep 48 has dried up his/her inspiration so we get such a plain ep 49 ......

Yeah, I am sure Yuanqi knows the truth of "Feng Ran". Such a smart child. When he refused to call Bai Jue, God Father(Fu Shen) , I wanted to scream: Child, you won't have chance anymore. Your father is gonna die!!
Thankfully, Yuanqi came to his sense and finally call Bai Jue Fu Shen. And then Bai Jue expression ..... I have no more words to praise this exact scene.

I shall watch Xu Kai older drama after this. I am very happy with his growth as actor. He has gone a long way after The Legends. The experience of acting with Zhao Dong Yu should be very good for his future improvement. I heard that in acting, your pair is very important too since both can feed on each other emotion.

Agree!!!! I think those scenes are the best in term of Xu Kai acting in this drama. I was crying a lot in that episode while I honestly didn't cry in ep 41 .........

Somehow, I get the feeling perhaps the director want to go to "numb" route. When the pain is too great, you will lost any ability to feel. This route is good, too. But the problem is, this route needs more time. You cannot just give us half episode focusing on Shang Gu.

I think make up team did Zhao Dong Yu wrong in ep 49. They should have given her a plainer clothes and head dress. Because she was in mourning.

And of course, as I have said before, I blame the screenwriter and the director. Just what were they thinking???? They had Zhao Dong Yu. Just give her the best tragedy scenes that they could concocting. It will be a different story if they had mediocre actress to work with. I cannot understand ......

I also have no problem with Xu Kai. Yes, there were some parts that perhaps could be better. But, he nailed all those emotional scenes. Those father and son interaction in ep 48 ...... I never knew that he had it in him to be able to act like that. Wow .... just wow! I am looking forward for his future works.

I am also waiting for that fanfiction ...... Will share with you once I find a nice one.

Back to Shang Gu.
I feel that her sorrow missing Qing Mu is far more powerful. That exact emotion and beyond, is what I have expected to see from Shang Gu. The drama makes it as if Houchi loves Qing Mu more than Shang Gu loves Bai Jue. If Houchi can be in that much pain losing Qing Mu, even when the man actually still alive, just become another person, then Shang Gu pain should be much greater since Bai Jue literally gone.

I want to see that novel scenes acted by Zhao Dong Yu!!! Aaaarghhhh! I have such a pent up frustration (suppressed for years) for FL acting ability. Those actress that people loves: Zhao Lu Si, Dilireba, Zhao Li Ying, Yang Zhi, Yuan Bing Yuan, all those young actress have made me so frustrated in their inability in expressing high level tragedy. APL gave me such a high hope, but all is dashed in ep 49.

Exactly!! Where is the grief?? They should have made her clothes tattered or something like that to show the passage of time.

Those last scene is forgivable. But the scenes that lead to that, lack of passion. It was like the director just want the drama end. Where is the passion that I felt from the drama maker in ep 48?? Everything is perfect until ep 48, everything leading to a heart-wrenching separation. But where is my heart wrenching emotional scene?

I am so disappointed. And this drama is very very very good. I hope we will get a bonus episode or something

The ending will be more swallow-able if only they didn't cut too much of novel scene for the ending arc. Of course I wish I can see their wedding as True God .......

The drama for overall is very good. I give this 10/10 rating. The acting is also very satisfying from both leads. First time I don't have any grievance toward FL acting in emotional scenes. I blame everything on the script and the director.

Everything was built up nicely up to episode 48. The father and son interaction was gold. I cannot praise it enough. It was so beautiful that I was crying a lot watching it. But, then everything started falling flat. Shang Gu memories return didn't have the emotional impact that I expected to see. I didn't feel her shock. Then the 3 years waiting also didn't have high level emotional impact. In the novel, Shang Gu spent those three years in Mount Lookout. She literally blocked herself from outside world with a barrier that even Zhi Yang could not breach. Her reason was that if she didn't do that, then the three realms would be gone. It indicated that after Bai Jue death, Shang Gu didn't feel the three realms was worth it. This is very powerful statement from Shang Gu and I was waiting it to be adapted. But my hope is in vain.

My next biggest disappointment is Yuanqi reaction for Bai Jue death. They were re-conciliated in episode 48. This is a much needed drama addition. I have thought it would have made ep 49 more heart-wrenching. But ..... nothing at all. No tears at all from Yuanqi!!! This was the father that he yearned for all these years. He just got him back and then ..... did you really not feel sad for his death??????

I believe, given the script, Zhao Dong Yu will be able to enact those emotional scene for Shang Gu that present in the novel last chapter; since she can act that perfectly in episode 41. I have been waiting for so long for this kind of actress, but everything just .....

Have you watch FIYS? I am planning to watch that as soon as I get over ALP. Aside from FIYS, I am also staring blankly, hahahahahaha. Perhaps The Long Ballad .......

Even in ancient time, it was Zhi Yang, Tian Qi, and Bai Jue who did all the administration work.

First time jump starts right after Bai Jue death, which is 3 years. Then, Shang Gu kneeling to Ancient God, begging him to return Bai Jue, we have the second time jump, which is 500 years

Finished watching. Ep 47-48 are very satisfying. Bai Jue interaction with his son is so heart-wrenching. But I am not satisfied with ep 49 at all. If they don't want to add anything past the novel, then at least they should faithfully follow the novel last chapter. In the novel, Shang Gu sadness is depicted far better. They have such a good actress as Shang Gu, what a waste .....

Moreover, I dislike how they handle Yuanqi in episode 49. The novel states that Yuanqi spend his days crying day and night after Bai Jue death. The drama shows him to have "no care" at all. It makes any drama addition in ep 48 for father-son reconciliation useless.

One of the reason I avoid BTS of xianxia drama, hahahahah

Perhaps trying to watch another Xu Kai drama? I will start on FIYS after this. And then perhaps update myself with his older dramas.
