Binge watched all readily subbed episode until episode 44 yesterday. My eyes are so tired .....
By the way, dunno why, I didn't really feel sad when watching episode 41. The acting is very good, not a problem with that. No feeling of cringe or "blank" when watching, I was pretty much engrossed. But, somehow I felt like this pain is only transient, soon both of them will meet again as Shang Gu and Bai Jue. In my eyes, Houchi and Qing Mu never died, they just remember the whole picture.
I'm emotional seeing qingmu crying when he disappeared. My guess was right, interesting qingmu and boxuan are…
Which episode are you at? Because if you have watched episode 39, you will know Bai Jue was only acting. He remembers everything. But he needs to put a front to distance himself from Shang Gu and so that Wu Huan will not get suspicious. He also already knew that Wu Huan cultivate devil way.
It seems there are two group here in this forum. One group believes that pair in love must face everything together.…
".....I wasn't trying to blame Shang Gu here...." Of course you were not! In this story, no one is to be blamed in my opinion. Shang Gu has rights to angry to Bai Jue since she knows nothing of his plan. But viewers has God's perpective thus privy to Bai Jue inner problem. Thus, I think it is imperative for us to empathize with both sides.
I have never been an active participant in a discussion when there is a debate between group defending FL and the group that defending ML. Until ALP, hahahaha.
Agree with this comment. I love baijue/qingmu and xukai play him well enough for me to empathise with his characters.…
To be honest, I cannot understand the hype of Bai Lu. I admit I have not watched lots of her drama. Only The Legends, AMA, and Jiuliu Lord. I am not impressed. She is decent, yes, but not yet excellent.
"The one who is left behind is usually the one who suffers the most" Yes, this is usually the case, but if you're…
It seems there are two group here in this forum. One group believes that pair in love must face everything together. The other group believe in sacrificial love. The debate will never end between the two because the believe ingrained in our mind and built up by culture and life experience.
I am more inclined to sacrificial love, because in my eyes when you truly love someone, you would only wish happiness for them and shoulder all the difficulties yourself. This is what I believe. Suffer together is indeed nice. But in certain condition, it will only highlighted the selfishness of one participant. He/she doesn't want to suffer alone, so he/she "asked" the partner to suffer together.
Seriously what I hate most is seeing the fandom being divided like this now, because they only see how much Hou…
I am still holding myself to watch that particular episode with stab .... I will start binge watch tomorrow so that I am ready for the last three in Sunday.
And yeah, the bromance between Bai Jue and Tian Qi is gold as always. Love their interaction very much.
I actually want another kiss scene (on the lips), between Bai Jue and Shang Gu, before the ending, but I think…
Now that you have put the idea in my head ......... I also want to see it. I want to see a little lovey dovey as we had back in TMPoB in the end to sooth our hearts

The words indeed hurt him. The novel also has this scene. But, the novel added a second sword stab from Shang Gu along with the words. And in Bai Jue monologue, he says that the words hurt worse than the sword stab.
Moreover, in the novel, he is truly alone. Tian Qi only knows of everything in the very end, right before Bai Jue does the sacrifice. It is truly sad ......

In my history reading people comments in drama forum, it is common for the majority to only see from FL point of view. Perhaps because the majority of viewer is female, so they are more in tune with the FL than ML. In APL, it is already far better because quite lots of us empathize with Bai Jue.
Oh no, which episodes were you watching? I was watching previews again for E47-49 and cried last night. 😂 Luckily,…
I also cry out my eyes because of those three previews..... If a mere preview can render us crying like this, I wonder what will happen when we get to see the full version .....
I cry with him everytime Shang Gu makes him cry in this last arc. So painful. That's why I am so looking forward…
Hahahahaha!!! I shall consider this drama then. Watching Xu Kai is always a pleasure for me since he is so handsome. His acting skill also decent so I will not feel any uncomfortable feeling when watching. I actually had planned to watch Lingjian Mountain and Dance of the Sky Empire back then. But I lost my interest when I watched clips of those dramas because either the storyline or the FL was not into my taste.
ALP whetted my appetite again for him though, hahahha. So I might check all of his dramas after I am done with ALP.

Cheng Yi acting is perfect in L&R in my opinion. You already knew me from L&R so I don't need to defend myself here whether I like that drama or not. You also already privy to my personal opinion on the FL acting in L&R, which I think taking away a certain percent of emotional pain from that drama. Honestly, I was crying more watching Cheng Yi in The Promise of Chang An than him in L&R.
Anyway, in term of tragic level of the storyline, ALP is higher than L&R. I have read both novels, and as I see it the novel of L&R is quite bland. Xu Kai is indeed not yet a perfect actor, but he has his own charm when portraying emotional pain that really cut to my heart. I have to say that he is very good in that department. Zhao Dong Yu is the most excellent Chinese actress I have met in this decade (not counting the veteran actress like Vicky Zhao or Zhou Xun). I have to rate her acting ability far above Yuan Bing Yuan. Thus, the FL pain in ALP is transmitted to me perfectly in here.
Those two scenes from ALP that you have described are not the ones that make me rate ALP higher than L&R in terms of emotional pain. The first emotional scenes that touched me is episode 15-16 when the lead couple understand the truth about tribulation of chaos. And I am waiting for the ep 47-49 for the peak of emotional in this drama.

I really hate how the drama butchered the Legends. The novel itself is good, and it is a happy ending. But the drama made such unnecessary change that made me annoyed to the FL character. Not to mention the horrendous ending.
Those people are crazy for criticizing her of being ugly. I understand that people used to face like Yang Mi, Dilireba, and Yang Zhi for playing this kind of fairy character. But Zhao Dong Yu has her own charm. And her acting ability makes glued to my screen.
This is my first time so satisfied with an actress performance in emotional tragedy moment. I have too many "meh" moment when watching dramas these years, and those mainly caused by female lead inability to convey sadness. I was so frustrated. It is to the point that every time I watch a drama with angst in it, I always very judgmental toward the lead actress from the beginning.
I want the sadness to not only be conveyed by tears. But by your whole body and aura. My catchphrase is that "lots of actress only know how to cry prettily in front of the camera". They cry very pretty yes, but my heart is not moved by their crying at all. If at all, I feel annoyed instead ......

Anyway, story wise, I love ALP the most currently for xianxia genre.
