I read about him repeatedly in the script, about his fateβa fate that remains silent even when surrounded by activity. Fate forced him to accept defeat, yet he fought tooth and nail to survive. Fate gambled on his freedom from the karmic entanglements of others, but he risked his life solely for the sake of justice. Sometimes I find it hard to say I truly understand him; it seems I can only glimpse his passionate heart when he faces the wind and snow alone. He is decisive in killing, yet he saves far more people than he kills. He says, "My name is not in the Book of Karma," yet he treats every connection in this world with more seriousness than anyone else.
During filming, his robes fluttered in the wind as he stood there, resolute and determined. I think he truly lived; he had his obsessions, his pain, and things he would risk his life to protect.
