Growing up watching numerous C dramas, I expect people dying in most of it, so I wasn't even fazed that characters…
They're not actual ghosts, but they are referred to as ghosts because they drink the water there to forget their obsession from their life. At least, that's how I understood it. I was confused initially as well.
