I'm not sure if you've figured it out by now, but it sounds like you might be watching the Chinese VIP version instead of the English subbed one. The scrolling text sounds like the comment thingy that can be turned on and off on the Chinese version. There should be two options when you search Word of Honor so maybe try the second one. Once you do that, there should be three (if I remember correctly) Chinese characters on the right side of the video. The far left is the one for subs and if you click on it, four more characters will show up. The one that looks like a backwards L with lil wings is the English sub.

So the special edition is basically just a more concise version with a couple added/extended scenes. It's totally up to you if you want to jump right back in. When I first watched CQL, I completed the 50 episode version then read the book, then the manga, and after that finished the 20 episode version since I still wanted more. This version is essentially the same, but just has some bonus scenes and is good for a refresher if you can't get over TU. It's really up to personal preference. :)

I'm not sure which days the episodes release but I believe it's slated to finish May 5th and they release three episodes per week.

I think the only ones who might leave negative comments are trolls tbh. If it's fans of "that particular show" I truly doubt the actual fans would say anything negative considering all the trolling they have gone through. I can't say much about other media platforms since I'm too lazy to get them, but there will always be toxic people who want to put good things down unfortunately. Best thing I think is to just ignore any negativity. At the end of the day, we're all here to share our enjoyment of drama watching. ^^
