what happened with the ratings? I'm now on ep4, and I pretty like it so far. I mean it's not that bad for this…
The rating was lowered by people who started watching the drama expecting something it never claimed to offer (i.e. a convoluted, original plot) Don't mind it and enjoy as much as you can. 🙂
Same. I wish there was a group only composed of people with similar taste where we would share our own recommendations…
Yeah the fact that this website is just a giant forum where everyone can butt in with their opinions no matter how different they are than yours is great in a way but in others it can really be frustrating and unpractical.
Beginning to think I have very different taste than the average MDL user. Dramas I hate get rave reviews and ones…
Same. I wish there was a group only composed of people with similar taste where we would share our own recommendations instead of wasting my time looking through the ratings lol.
I don't think it's fair to group all convoluted plots as unnecessary. They can be good depending on the genre.
Haven't watched it yet. Do you think it served the romance? For Crash Landing On You I'm thinking it may just be that they have more obstacles thrown their way.

That's not what I meant and I admit it wasn't clear. I think convoluted plots are even okay in romcoms as long as they don't get in the way of the main relationship but reinforce it instead. Crash Landing On You for instance is a good example of that. That's not the case for most romcoms though, which is what I meant to point out by adding "unnecessary" (in a romance drama if the added drama doesn't serve the relationship then what is it for?) Other genres may ask for different things, yes.
Let there be stated once again that if you're someone who cares about characters and character arcs, excellent chemistry, healthy relationships and inspiring stories more than unnecessary convoluted plots (which are, let me say it, often at the expense of the rest), you're most certainly going to have a blast with this show. This is a lighthearted romcom that excels at what it's supposed to do, which is romance and comedy. Don't let the rating influence you.
maybe it doesn't mean anything to us we've already seen the drama but in the future some people won't watch the…
I try not to trust the ratings as well but honestly there's so many dramas out there it's hard to look at every single one without taking the rating into account first. Kinda makes me want to grieve for all the people who won't watch this drama because of it.
Pff, 7.9 for this drama is outrageous. Just goes to show once again how much I can't trust the ratings on this website. We clearly don't care about the same things and it makes me sad.
People keep mentioning the product placement and am I just immune at this point? Because it didn't seem that egregious…
They did seem blatant to me. I think the problem is they weren't hidden by the scenes at all. At least for some of the Subway PPLs I've seen the rest of the drama was unfolding while they were there, or it didn't last that long. Here the sole focus was on the product placement and you couldn't think about anything else for 30 to 40 seconds (I'm thinking about the Dior perfume and the Piaget jewelry specifically, but that Nespresso insert was so weird too lol). It didn't make me enjoy the show less but it did feel jarring. That being said I'm fairly new to Korean dramas so maybe someday I'll become immune as well.
Can I also just say how much I actually loved the SML? Not in a swoony omg I love him kind of way, but his character…
Absolutely. He's one of the best written antagonists I've ever seen, personally. I've rarely been as scared of a character as I was to him during the show and thinking about him still makes me shiver honestly. He's terrible in such a sly, double-faced way, it made me lose my mind. I hated him with a passion but the character was so subtly written I loved every single second of it, which doesn't happen so often.
This drama broke me. The story and characters are so nuanced and layered I could spend hours and hours contemplating them but words fail me at the moment. What an emotional rollercoaster this was...
Well, precisely, how can we root for a couple who doesn't communicate with each other? Both of them are frustrating on this front... But maybe I've just developed higher expectations for my drama couples lately.
I was annoyed by pretty much everything and everyone in this episode... None of the plots with Doshik, Haewon or that cartoonish vampire villain are interesting to me... It all feels absurd and over the top. The second main leads should have left a long time ago and the plot with the vampire is ridiculous imo, I can't take it seriously. I don't even find the main couple that interesting anymore. It's a shame because I really liked the beginning of the show but it's been going downhill for me in the last few episodes.
Woo Hyeol almost drank In Hae's blood after she hurt herself while trying to make the guest's ex-boyfriend leave the mansion. Do Shik came and stopped him.
